Well the dance ritual went ahead and I have to say that I'm still recovering 2 days later.

Pauly and I opened the four points and created an open circle. I summoned in the elements, the old gods, the spirits of the ancestors and the unifying lifeforce. The intent waas laid out as being a mechanism to create a feedback loop between the dancing and awareness, as people danced they brought about a change in consciousness.

Below is a cut and paste of the information given out on the night:

You must know your mythic origins.

Facts and news are reports from the current TV drama.
They have no relevance to your 2-billion-year-old divinity.
Myth is the report from the cellular memory bank.
Myths humanize the recurrent themes of evolution

You select a myth as a reminder that
you are part of an ancient and holy process.

You select a myth to guide you when you drop out of the
narrow confines of the fake-prop studio set.

Your mythic guide must be one who has solved the death-rebirth riddle.

A TV drama hero cannot help you.
Caesar, Napoleon, Kennedy are no help to your cellular orientation.
Christ, Lao-tse, Hermes Trismegistus, Socrates are recurrent turn-on figures.

You will find it absolutely necessary to leave the city.

Urban living is spiritually suicidal.
The cities of America are about to crumble as did Rome and Babylon.

Go to the land.
Go to the sea.

SAMHAIN
Sunset on Oct. 31st until Sunset on Nov. 2nd

Hallowe’en is more than just an American holiday fixation with candy and kids in costume, but actually relates back to a pre-Christian Celtic festival, Samhain, meaning summer’s end.
It was the beginning of the Celtic year and was involved in the welcoming home of family spirits and the most important Fire Festival of ancient times.

It was at this time of the year that the cattle would be brought down from the hills for the coming winter, to be either sheltered in byres or slaughtered for meat. A ritual of cleansing was performed with the herd being driven between two symbolic fires.
This act would not only purify the cattle, but also protect them from any negative spirits at this annual transition, guide home the community and the spirits of the ancestors.

It was thought that at this time of year the realm of spirit was closer to the fabric of this reality and witches and fairies were at their most powerful. Bon (good) fires were used to deter any unwanted energies, this was later replaced by the Bonfire Night of November 5th.
Samhain is a time which is best for love divination, to find one’s soul mate. Rituals on this time are perfect for protection, overcoming fears, the laying of ghosts both literal and psychological, and the marking of one stage of life to the next, a rite of passage.

Tonight’s club is a modern honouring of this festival. The venue has been blessed and made sacred. ENJOY

WAR DRUMS
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”
- George Orwell

The UK government claims it has a monopoly on ‘the truth’ that justifies another campaign in the middle east. Unfortunately, the current government – through bringing the idea of ‘spin’ into popular parlance has also drawn attention that much loved propaganda technique of concealing lies within truth – or rather, the fine art of telling half-truths.

The “Dossier of Evidence” released, like some kind of Rosetta Stone that would reveal all in fact does nothing of the sort. Blair – surprisingly perhaps – released it into the public domain, and I would urge anyone who takes the issue of war seriously to read the document.

The dossier has an abundance of conditional statements: "almost certainly", "appears", "probably" and "if". I might find the lack of clarity and certainty in the use of such language acceptable when discussing the capabilities of the local football team. To use such language to send possibly thousands of troops (on both sides) not to mention civilians (remember, we cant say “dead people”, we say “collateral damage” – got it?), to certain death strikes me as unforgivable.

While it overflows with vague statements, and lacks any new substantive “evidence” not already in the public domain, it certainly does not fall short in omissions. Does Saddam have weapons of mass destruction (WMDs)? Possibly. The UK government still has the receipts from selling them to Iraq, (remember the Scott Report anyone? – another one down the media memory hole). Has Saddam used such weapons “against his own people”? The dossier – and the government – would say an unreserved ‘yes’. However, neither the Kurds themselves, or Saddam would regard the Kurdish nation as “his own people”. Turkey has carried out similar massacres of Kurds, but that little fact slipped through the cracks too.

What other relevant information might have also taken a hike? Well, during the parliamentary debate on the Iraq issue, Jeremy Corbyn MP pointed out that the issue of supply of weapons to the middle east still remains a policy of the current government – no “a previous administration’s actions” excuses here. Mr. Corbyn listed the countries to which the UK currently supplies arms, which included Saudi Arabia and Iran. Yes – you read that correctly, he said “Iran”. Given Mr.Bush’s recent ‘Axis of Evil’ speech, it might give cause to you to wonder why the US’s primary ally in ‘The War Against Terror’ would continue to sell arms to one of the “evil” nations?

I could write several more pages of such questions, but alas do not have the space for this short article. I urge you however to ask questions - and bear in mind the old police maxim – ‘who profits from the crime?’

Darios.

War Profits
War Drums questions the motivations, here we look at others.

Ex President and father of the current US President, Mr George Bush Snr. is employed by the Carlyle Group, which holds many major US defence contracts, supplying weapons, vehicles and equipment. Bush Snr. is one of many ex-heads of state, including our own John Major, that use their status to secure global military contracts.
Since 9/11 Bush Jnr has increased the defence budget for the US to $96 Billion, the vast majority of which will be going to the Carlyle Group.

It should be a deep cause for concern that a closely held company like Carlyle can simultaneously have directors and advisers that are doing business and making money and also advising the president of the United States,
Peter Eisner, managing director of the Center for Public Integrity, a non-profit-making Washington think-tank

Military contracts are not the only resource that interests the Bush clan. Bush Snr’s first Iraq conflict was found to be led by oil, and so to can be said of his son’s decisions on Afghanistan and Iraq

UNOCAL, an American oil company, has major stakes in Central Asia Gas, which has been attempting to build a trans-Afghan pipeline for decades. It was in negotiation with the Taliban, with regards the pipeline, which would have earnt the religious government some $25 million annually. The negotiations broke down when the Taliban could not prove control over Afghanistan and thus safety for the pipeline.

The US led military campaign not only ended the Taliban rule but also put Mr Karzai, ex UNOCAL advisor during negotiations with the Taliban, in as President. The result is a resumption in the construction of the trans-Afghan pipeline

The evidence of the US Government reliance on oil is demonstrated by their actions, the defeat of efforts to improve fuel economy, a refusal to join other nations in support of the Kyoto Protocol on global warming, an end to the EPA's practice of including CO2 emissions in its pollution reports, a push to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and, most recently, an undermining of efforts in Johannesburg to set specific global goals for solar and wind energy production.

Post Afghanistan, Iraq is now up for regime change by the US. As Darios writes it is being presented as a military concern, but no mention of the 112 Billion barrels of crude oil. The US Defense Department asserts there are 12 nations with nuclear weapons programs, 13 with biological weapons, 16 with chemical weapons, and 28 with ballistic missiles that serve as potential threats to the United States. But only Iraq has the second largest oil reserves after Saudi Arabia.

In light of such motivations, war is not only led by global security, but also by profit margins.

During the preparation for the last majestic event ,we opened a circle within the venue (a old church), making symbolic offerings to the four quarters. The event was to honour the coming fire festival Samhain, so to I marked either post of the entrance with fire symbols, to represent the bon-fires that livestock were driven between. The atmosphere and intent of the evening was tuned with eth use of computer projections, containing a mix of images and text, and the addition of abstract quotes from various philisophical and magickal sources. The contents of a flyer/programme come manual are posted above. I had a fire chain dancer welcome the clubbers and a green man dancer to enthuse them with the necessary spirit.

The next event will follow a similar vein, though I have proposed more specific esoteric dates to the venue. I'll keep you posted.
