anyone excited by this?

'The novel that Dicken's would've written if only he'd cut loose'

The reviews of this book have been the most glowing I have ever seen. Believe me. Most reviewers seem to take pleasure in comparing it with some classic or other in order to show how shit those classics are. It appears that many people think this is perhaps the greatest novel ever written.

Clever types (both wanky ones and cool ones (I'm not cool, so please fuck off) have been getting very excited about Michael Faber - he did Under the Skin - the horror scifi novel set in the hitchhiking highlands of Scotland. (it was pretty bloody good. Excellent in fact)

The filth of Victoria has survived intact within it's pages and I canny wait.

Out today. Published by Canongate.

He's not short on confidence either: He's adopted a narrative voice which will be very familiar to lovers of comic books. A guiding had, which talks to you, dear reader.....

Yeah, I'm interested, but I'm still going to wait for the paperback... It does sound from the reviews rather like a revisiting of The French Lieutenant's Woman... though I wouldn't say that they've all been that spiffing (the reviews, that is).
