Role Playing Games

So...any rpg enthusiasts/veterans out there? What games are you currently playing or are interested in playing?

I don't roleplay as much as I used to (ie. high school and college), but I still occassionally find time for Call of Cthulhu about once every 3-4 weeks or so (mainly Delta Green campaigns). Also GURPS, a home-brew setting a friend came up with that's set in an alternate-world Rennaissance era (high magic, secret societies, Vatican intrigues, Lovecraftian horrors in the catacombs, proto-steampunkish Da Vinci inventions in common use).

Thought about getting into the whole D20 thing, the idea of combining say, CoC with Spycraft and Unknown Armies appeals to me greatly, but the books are a little pricey and I don't have all that much spare time.

Heh.

Depends on the day, really.

Currently, I'm involved/was involved in 6 games.

GURPS In Nomine (tabletop), King of Roses (an online Changeling: The Dreaming campaign), Wild West (Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop), an as-yet unnamed Changeling tabletop, an unnamed Nobilis tabletop, and a Star Wars d20 one-shot.

We might also play a Farscape one-shot in there somewhere. It's just finding a spare day to set it up in.

I'd love to play more this quarter, but unfortunately my 20 credit hours are currently making me their bitch. And since my education is worth more to me than a bunch of d10s and d20s, off to homework I go.

(except when I'm up at 3am EST writing posts, that is.)

I used to be quite an avid roleplayer. Vampire, CoC, a bit of AD&D, Warhammer, Stormbringer etc... not so much now. Got bored of always running the campaigns, but hated anyone else running them.

Yeah theres a few of us around Captain Zoom is tragicly away from his desk dealing with life but I'll see what I can do.
Not playing anything but LRP at the moment (no not Minds Eye Theatre before you ask) but would like to run Fading Suns at some point, lovely Dune style dark ages in space roleplaying.
Oh Kopi how has Nobilis worked out for you? I love the game to pieces but am still awaiting the necessary player group to run it, along with inspiration on plot matters.

I used to run a lot of LRP events around the country. Started off with small local events - such as Vampire (our own system, naturally, as Minds Eye is - not to put too finer point on it - utter bollocks). I ran a few fantasy genre events before taking over as one of the head writers for the Gathering, which tends to draw around a couple of thousand people to the events. I gave up LRP (and roleplay in general) when it suddenly dawned on me that I was effectively doing a full time job on writing it without being paid a penny.

Back at my desk, albeit briefly.

I'm running a COC campaign right now that we play twice a week at best, and twice a month at worst. I'm also doing a De Profundis thing with my brother that we've only just started. I'm in hiatus for a 2nd ed. AD&D right now too, as one of my fellow party members is living in Montreal until December. Though that's right around the corner, really, innit?

Running my store gave me a new lease on my role-playing life, as has finding people who are actually as passionate about it. I'm using my spare time to write articles, supplements, etc. these days, but with WOTC laying off most of it's staff, I get the feeling it's going to be a harder industry to break into than comics.

A few months ago I blitzed (some say spammed) the board with RPG topics to see if a new forum was warranted, but then came the shutdown hullaballoo, so I'm not making any noise now.

Recently found out that Gary Gygax was almost 40 when he developed D&D. So it really is okay to be into RPGs when you're an old guy. That gives me hope.

Not that I wish to draw away from the Underground, but my brother recommends a site called enworld.org, and their message boards for great RPG discussion.

Now back to trying to find a job.

Arrgh.

Haven't Rpg'ed in a few years..Since I left college. Used to play D&D (before all this D20 crap), Gurps, Ravenloft, Heroes and TMNT, some horro one that I cant recall and I used to run the most kickass game of paranoia.

Haven't played for a long time, ever since my tastes develpoed and I realised that to a lot of my friends RPG meant "kill things lots". SO now I have nobody who'd like to play the games I like - Nobilis, Kult - the way I'd like.

Has anyone had experience playing with people from local gaming store ads or anything like that? I've only ever RPGd with friends and am a little wary of playing with strangers.

About eighteen years as a roleplayer and counting.
I still don't consider myself an "old guy" but that's where I'm going and yes, I think it's perfectly all right to keep playing as age advances.
Pity it's so damn hard to find players hereabouts.

Anyway, all time favourites: Call of Cthulhu (with or without Delta Green), Feng Shui, Trinity, Shadowrun, Castle Falkenstein.

I'm currently running a weekly Exalted game (good, but hard as hell to keep on track - characters too powerful, even if we started small) with my regular team, I'm planning a Shadowrun game for a team of pretty eager newbies, and I'm having lots of fun as an occasional GURPS Swashbucklers player.

Involvement in a local tournament and in a very serious application of RPG to education are looming on the horizon.

I write most of my scenarios, and recently started selling 'em to publishers, who seem to appreciate.
