Barbeinterview (week 5)

Seth
23:12 / 22.09.02
Bring it on.

(Rules in the abstract)

Murray Hamhandler
23:54 / 22.09.02
Wha' hoppen to week 4? Did I miss something? Was that when everyone nominated me and then came to realize that I wasn't that interesting after all, subsequently petitioning heavily to have the thread deleted and the whole matter dropped and forgotten?

I dunno. I'm gonna have to go with...Flux or moriarty, just off the top of my head.

Seth
23:59 / 22.09.02
Week 4 was when Grant Morrison guested. I can't believe you missed it. Unfortunately both the nomination thread in which he posted and the interview got deleted in a freak Conversation moderator accident.

Ermm... I can't count.

Mazarine
00:14 / 23.09.02
Flyboy. And the question is, "Who are you?" Not in the sense of revealing names or anything, I suppose more like "Who do you think you are?" but free of hostile overtones.

00:29 / 23.09.02
I still want to nominate Mordant. Because with moving countries, i don't think she's got enough to do. But I am serious about nominating hir, as soon as i can think of a question.

Lurid Archive
01:13 / 23.09.02
But you have to have a question in order to nominate, bip. I recommend something guaranteed to get her angry. She's always funnier when she rants.

Goodness Gracious Meme
01:17 / 23.09.02
I know. Perhaps something on science and relativism... *rubs hands together*

Lurid Archive
01:26 / 23.09.02
I think that may be mostly my bugbear. I think it would be unbearable if both of us got obssessed about it. For the sake of my sanity, don't do it.

Goodness Gracious Meme
01:29 / 23.09.02
ha. what's it worth...

Goodness Gracious Meme
01:31 / 23.09.02
'kay. I got one.

I nominate Mordant. What's the thing you find most annoying about the fetish/BDSM scenes?

Lurid Archive
01:42 / 23.09.02
That could get a rant. But it is very hard to get good questions, isn't it? Maybe people are being shy and polite? I thought that the level of interest in LLBimG wasn't really reflected in the intensity of questions. Then again, there has been a lot of attention directed to Haus.

Seth
06:27 / 23.09.02
I agree on that score. For the most part, LLB's questions were pretty tame, and the interview made fun reading because he can rant about practically any subject.

Really looking forward to reading Haus' interview.

ONLY NICE THINGS
07:54 / 23.09.02
Interview? Small book, more like. So many questions...will address them, piecemeal, shortly.

07:56 / 23.09.02
(my god, it's the biggest topic abstract i'd ever seen !)

well, MC or the Haus are 2 fine choices for me...

11:36 / 23.09.02
I nominate Saveloy again. Same questions as last time.

Ack. Oh, all right-- I'm up for it.

The Apple-Picker
13:36 / 23.09.02
After drumming my fingers together for about a week, I am now relieved to whip out my nomination:

Persephone!

grant
14:47 / 23.09.02
Mordant:

What's the last electronics project you've completed?
Does a successful electronics design/completed project give you the same buzz as a completed short story?

Seth
22:24 / 24.09.02
My nomination: Autopilot Disengaged.

My questions:

- What were the last five albums you bought, and what do you think of them (I want a critique here, not "they rock").

- Name your top five most valued news sources, and your opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of each.

- Name the five books that have influenced you the most, and describe how they changed you.

Persephone
23:41 / 24.09.02
I don't think that I can handle being interviewed. If you all knew how long it takes me to write my posts, you would weep for me.

My vote this week is for Saveloy, and my question is... what do you do for a living, and then what is it that you do when you get home? As in, do you straightaway get into painting and inventing things? And do you stay up really late painting and inventing? Also if you don't mind... can you talk a little bit about the painting, about what you paint?

But also I have another idea, what about if we interview Mordant and Lurid together? Is that too dorky?

some guy
00:31 / 25.09.02
I vote for The Apple-Picker. Just because.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
09:27 / 25.09.02
Mordant- this much-vaunted goth revival. Is there anything in it, or does the quality of music just get progressively worse each time? Is there any connection at all anymore between (say) Wumpscut and (say) Bauhaus?

Eloi Tsabaoth
10:09 / 25.09.02
I vote for Saveloy. My question is:
"Novelty rings.Games, Text messages. Photo messaging. what feature should mobile phones have next?"

illmatic
10:38 / 25.09.02
Mordant: Why are you moving to Ireland? What was your electronic degrees so hideous? What do you think of the Magick forum? and What were you doing to Google to find the hideous ugly monkey toys in that previous thread?

The Apple-Picker
11:20 / 25.09.02
So is it for sure Mordant? I would back away, slowly, from interviewing Mordant and Lurid together.

I vote for The Apple-Picker. Just because.

Struck with terror and shock into a catatonic state, through which I am somehow capable of typing. Maybe through the use of mind bullets.

Ethan Hawke
12:44 / 26.09.02
I vote for Persephone, and I have a whole list of questions about sorority life.

Muhuhahahahahah!

The Apple-Picker
17:05 / 26.09.02
But Todd, Persephone has already turned down our request. We will have to inform our spies to intensify their efforts, then.

And you can go to my blog to ask me questions about sorority life! I am your blog monkey, after all.

Saveloy
21:20 / 26.09.02
I nominate Nick, and my question is: how did you come to be talking to a professional assassin?

The Apple-Picker
21:47 / 26.09.02
...I was wondering that myself....

ONLY NICE THINGS
00:25 / 27.09.02
Surely the better question would be, how do you come to be talking to us now?

netbanshee
02:37 / 27.09.02
hmmm...

Plenty to choose from but...

Mordant.

How do you feel your creativity and inventiveness stands in relation to a "practical real-world" application? Will it be an intense hobby or secondary activity in life, or a a process emerging from the progressive thinking beyond your laser harp schtick, etc.?

What gothic, electro-industrial slanted musicians have emerged in the genre that have influenced your tastes? Do you feel the music end of the scene is confused or lackluster as of late? (Appended to the Wumpscut-Bauhaus quaestion offered, of course.)

and...what really scares you?

Mordant: Please write the pitch and treatment for the first episode of a sitcom.

Sooo... what happens with this, then?
When do I start having to answer things-- Monday?
Do I have to harvest the Q's from this and previous threads, or would some kindly soul who's not on continuous medication be doing that for me?
If the former is the case, would folk with unanswered Q's kindly repeat them (in a loud voice so that Grandma can hear)?
Are you lot begging for a thick ear apiece or what?

Seth
22:19 / 29.09.02
The winner is Mordant. I reckon we should go out of our way to ask her really awkward questions during her new thread, otherwise she got off much lighter than Haus. That just wouldn't be fair.

Bengali in Platforms: Would you like to elaborate on the science and relativism thing, or shall I just riff off your suggestion?
