I've sold out. I got so sick of trying to configure Linux on my laptop (I'm not going to go into the whole affair here, it's too long and dull) that I've installed... XP.
And, y'know, even though the current colour scheme is a bit pale, it's not too bad having sold out utterly. I have anti-aliased screen fonts. Okay, I had them on KDE, too, but that's not the point. I don't yet have a Fritz chip so my bending over for Bill, prison style, isn't going to prevent me ripping my own CDs.
To be honest I am such a pussy when it comes to this shit that it makes no difference. I don't pirate huge quantities of MP3s, I buy CDs because it's quicker. I don't rip off software, because I don't want most of the software that's out there. I don't like M$ generally because I think they're ripping me off, and I don't like their politics, with the DMCA being potentially a massive civil liberties threat, but right now any threat to my privacy is easily solved with a third party firewall.
Look at me. I'm pathetic. I'm just trying to justify myself here. I want to take a shower in bleach, I feel dirty. |
