Pick a comic (be it an entire series, one writer's run, a single issue, a strip or political cartoon, someone's entire career), and write a review.
Choose a work that has not been examined to death in Barbelith (most, not all, of the works of Morrison and Moore, for example).
Make sure your analysis is no less than 150 words long.
If you can, please be specific with facts such as the creative team involved, links to amazon for purchase (if it's still in print), years published, etc. Also, any links to further information on the series would be useful.
In your write-up, make sure you can be understood by the non-comic reader. Include any information necessary to allow the reader to make an informed choice. For example, does the comic belong to a particular genre, or have genre trappings, and does it require knowledge of comics previous to the ones being discussed?
Obviously, you can throw most of this right out the window, if you like. I expect an Invisibles or Watchmen review within ten posts. Depending on whether or not we get the Comics Review site up and running (or a more general Barbelith review project), these reviews may be used. If that's the case, you will be asked for permission first, and allowed to edit your review at that time.
This is all just a way to introduce each other to new titles and artists without resorting to meaningless lists.
Thanks for your time. |
