The Hit List -- World Instability

November seems like such a heavy month. Heavy, heavy, heavy. Heeeea-vvy. (Ahem. Don't forget October.)

Your world stability is going.

The recently leaked (as if that's plausible) Pentagon papers detailing the US city nuke-em hit list has caused outrage, and from this one article, you have a worst case in-waiting:

"Bush's Secret 7 Nation Nuclear Hit List Draws World Outrage

By Alexandra Williams and Bob Roberts
The Daily Mirror - UK

9-16-2

President Bush faced world anger last night over America's seven-nation nuclear hit list.

British MPs joined the outcry after a leaked Pentagon report revealed contingency plans to use nuclear weapons against China, Russia, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Syria and Libya. The secret policy was denounced as warmongering "lunacy".

Alarmed officials from Moscow to Tehran warned that the "power crazy" President, buoyed up by the successful campaign in Afghanistan, could plunge the world into chaos. British politicians said the strategy threatened the stability of the NATO alliance.

International tension mounted as Washington pressed Britain to back an attack on Iraq - including the possible commitment of 25,000 British troops to topple Saddam Hussein.

Cabinet Minister Clare Short hinted that she might resign if Tony Blair supported a mass strike against Baghdad. She said: "We need to deal with the problem of Saddam Hussein - we don't need to inflict further suffering on the people of Iraq."

Labour MPs Alice Mahon and Tam Dalyell will today deliver a letter to 10 Downing Street warning the Prime Minister against joining any military action.

US Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in London last night for talks with Mr Blair which will cover the threat posed by Iraq.

No 10 insisted last night: "No decisions have been taken."

Amid mounting anger, the target nations accused America of intimidation and "wreaking havoc on the whole world" and branded the plans a "lunatic" threat to world peace.

In Britain, MPs said the sensational disclosures threatened the stability of the Western alliance.

Labour MP Alice Mahon said: "The lunatics have taken over the White House. This report must be ringing alarms throughout NATO". The Pentagon document, known as the Nuclear Posture Review, was leaked as the US lobbied Britain to join an invasion of Iraq.

International Development Secretary and Cabinet Minister Clare Short hinted she might resign if a strike went ahead.

The review says the US must be ready to use nuclear weapons against China, Russia, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Syria and Libya. It then identified four areas where the US should be prepared to press the button:

In an Arab-Israeli conflict, in a war between China and Taiwan, in an attack by North Korea on South Korea and in an attack by Iraq on Israel or another neighbor. Additionally, the weapons could be used against targets able to withstand conventional attack and in retaliation for the use of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.

They could also be used in the event of "surprising military developments", reflecting fears that rogue states or terrorists could deploy weapons against the US.

The review, leaked to the Los Angeles Times, orders the military to plan for the use of "smaller nuclear weapons" as a more effective deterrent against terrorist attacks. It also calls for cruise missiles to carry nuclear weapons. It is the first time the US has reviewed its nuclear strategy since 1994 and the first list of target nations to be made public.

Last night it was seen as a warning to those states who might be harboring terrorists. In Russia, defense hawk General Leonid Ivashov said: "The heart of US political doctrine is to push powerful Russia off the political scene."

Russian politician Dmitry Rogozin added: "This is a nuclear stick intended to intimidate us." Vyacheslav Nikonov, of the Politika think tank, branded the plans a "very negative signal" which would be "received in an appropriate fashion by Russia's leadership".

Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, an aide to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said: "The US believes that by threatening countries they'll withdraw their demands. Their policy is one of intimidation."

The Tehran Times newspaper said: "This indicates the US is going to wreak havoc on the world to establish its domination." Professor Michael Yahuda, professor of international relations at the London School of Economics, warned: "China won't be happy to be classified among rogue nations."

Liberal Democrat spokesman Menzies Campbell said: "America seems to be moving from nuclear deterrence to nuclear war fighting.

"It would drive a coach and horses through NATO's doctrine of nuclear strikes as a last resort."

US Secretary of State Colin Powell insisted the report did not signal imminent action.

He said: "We should not get carried away with some sense the US plans to use nuclear weapons in some contingency in the near future.

"It's not the case. What the Pentagon has done with this is sound military, conceptual planning.

"Not a single nation is being targeted by an American nuclear weapon on a day-to-day basis."

National security adviser Condoleezza Rice added: "We all want to make the use of weapons of mass destruction less likely.

"The way that you do that is to send a very strong signal to anyone who might use them against the United States that they'd be met with a devastating response."

Vice-President Dick Cheney arrived in London last night to meet Tony Blair. He is expected to appeal for military support against Iraq. It is reported the US will ask for up to 25,000 British troops to form part of an invasion force.

In the first sign of a Cabinet split, Ms Short denounced any invasion plans yesterday. She said: "An all-out military attack is, of course, not at all sensible.

"We need to deal with the problem of Saddam Hussein. We don't need to inflict further suffering on the people of Iraq."

Ms Short said the best answer was to allow UN inspectors back into Iraq, a move firmly ruled out by Iraq's Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadan yesterday. Her warning amounted to a threat to resign if there is a strike against Iraq. Donald Anderson, Labour chairman of the Commons foreign affairs select committee, said military action on Iraq must only be a last resort.

He said: "I think there are reckless elements in the Pentagon who are on a roll because of Afghanistan.

"I would hope part of the task of our Government is to influence those who take a contrary view."

Downing Street played down the reports of an American request for British troops. A spokesman said: "No decisions have been taken, let alone any requests made."

Guardian piece on the same issue from March this year.

So the Americans have a nuclear strategy.

That's not really a huge surprise.

I'd hate to see them use nukes in the Holy Land. That would be a mess of epic proportions. I don't think anyone would be terribly happy with them...

Adding to the mayhem...has anyone been following the story that the US may intervene soon in Yemen? An amphibious assault ship, special forces troops, and CIA paramilitary types on standby there, waiting to go after suspected Al-Qada cells and sympathizers. You should. My best work emerges when in adversity. Feel free to namecall me.

Nick, could you show me how one can post links, or please direct me to some sites with HTML codes so I can learn more than italics and bold (a PM is favourable). Now, as for your link I have to admit that I haven't been paying proper attention to world news as I ought to have but I needed the break.

"A spokesman for the Pentagon last night confirmed the existence of the document, called the 'Nuclear Posture Review', which was written with the knowledge of President George W. Bush and leaked to the Los Angeles Times."

Now, why would they confirm such a potentially damaging [to international relations] report to the news outlets? Especially given that most of the news outlets are heavily censored, so much so that I (and many others) think that the most important events are never adequately brought to light. I mean, the cormmecial media world is a big joke to anyone who has a little bit of patience to look for alternative news sources, right (more on this later in the post)? The commercial media world is a tool for our governments and as such, one can read why they are pushing for certain things, at certain periods. Now, don't you think it's strange that it's being pushed again, some 6 months after?

"Experts said the report's conclusions on the development of smaller nuclear weapons could signal a seachange in opinion by the US in using nuclear weapons except as a last resort and even trigger a new arms race. They warned that such moves could dangerously destabilise the world by encouraging other countries to believe that they, too, should develop weapons."

Is this what they hope to establish? To "trigger a new arms race" and "encouraging ohter countries to develop weapons?" We had to wait 6 months to read (and see/hear) the British MPs denounce it "warmongering "lunacy"", the Moscow to Tehran officials say that "the "power crazy" President, buoyed up by the successful campaign in Afghanistan, could plunge the world into chaos." What a surprise, if ever there was one. Or not. Remember that we have repeatedly told you that the leaders of the world, the true economic/political masters, need a world divided, in chaos, gripped by fear in order to "save" them; our victimhood will ensure that they can do with us as they please, and which will see us at their control if they are allowed to get away with it. Fact is that what is poised to happen in the US, in the 1st of November is a step towards the much fabled tag society/ies. They need us conflicted, staying with one side when in fact we should all be looking out for each other, across the continents with no inkling of racial hatred standing in our way. Please take this to your memory domain, whatever happens (and we are off the dead year, where their plans lay still - which at first confused me and made me question myself for a long period - a gestation period if you will) we ordinary people are in it together. Whatever the worldwide hallucination shows the people, remember that they will try to dupe us into believing some holy madness. Remember that all of this is not undetected by the right forces. Remember that there are enough people that know what their plans are, and who will oppose with whatever means they have at their disposal. A lot to remember but you still have a liiiittle bit of time to memorize some given knowledge.

Now, I promised something about alternative media sources, here you have it and if you are connected, chances are that it just may fall your way:

"On Tuesday, Sept-11, 2002, Al Jazeera reported that an al Qaeda member had been arrested, responsible for planning the WTC attacks, and that this suspect had revealed the identity of 2 high ranking American agents and 2 Mossad agents."

Have you folks heard about this?

"There is a video tape circulating in the news world, including Europe and the American government knows about this.

It’s a tape made by some journalist, who whas brought to a place where he actually stood eye to eye with Ben Sheba, this means that the person they arrested is NOT Ben Sheba, which was already said by the Minister of Pakistan.

The journalist was allowed to film the whole lot, showing everything except the faces. He was told that they worked together with 2 high ranking Americans {Organisation unknown...} and 2 high Mossad agents, they also said that the planes were accompanied by 2 black choppers, and that when the WTC went down, one could see 2 mossad agents cheering out loud.

Since September 6th, 2002, on Al Jazeera, a video is shown recorded by a journalist in Pakistan, the journalist was called to fly to Karachi. Via different roots,, the journalist was eventually led to a place were he met Ben Sheba and his companions, he was not allowed to film Ben Sheba's face, but did record his message and CAN indentify him.

The message of Ben Sheba was that his group, had been helped by 2 agents of the Mossad and 2 high ranking American agents to succeeed in the 911 attacks. He describes how Mohammed Atta had been helped to continue his work, when caught for driving without a drivers license, another companion was helped, to continue his training at a pilot training school, despite speaking no English, also at 911, Mohammed Atta had been delayed, a number of times, being 7 minutes late for his flight, but was helped to make it anyway, that is why you only see him and his companion on the video, being in a hurry without any passengers near them.
Right before the actual attack on the WTC, black choppers guided the planes to the towers, right after the first tower was hit, 2 nearby standing Israeli got arrested, since clearly showing exitement, but..they were released a few hours later.

The above was all taped by the journalist, as declared by Ben Sheba.
"

Measures are taken to prevent the copied tapes hitting the US streets but when it comes to Europe, this is already too late, its spreading like a hot fire and will arrive at the States through the channels of Europe.

Expect government distrust at an all time high, do you think we will still sit passively after that?

"The blood of every single person, including the fire men, who died because of the WTC collapsing etc is on the hands of the American government and Israel/Sharon and his very close friends sitting not only in the USA but in certain countries in Europe. Think Swiss cheese, think fish and chips, and don't forget the land of the free, think cow, and do not forget your french accent."

In the absence of clarifying demonstrations on how to incorporate links into words/whatnot, I will have to take the shortcut. With the question of 911, here are some that can get you started:

http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/tradecencrimes/page368.html

This site gives a detailed review of the towers before, during and after the attacks.

The above photo was taken from CNN live coverage of the attacks. The cloud of smoke coming from building #7 is still a controversial image.

The author of the above website makes a good case for reviewing the "collapsed" theory.

What is Building 7, and where was it?

http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/tradecencrimes/CrummyBuildings.html

Why so many dead firemen?
The reason so many firemen died in the World Trade Center is that they had no idea that a steel building could collapse from a fire. They ran into the towers just like they ran into other steel buildings on fire. No steel building had ever fallen apart from a fire before, so these firemen had no reason to worry.
Also, there was no sign that the building was about to come down. There were no creaking noises, and no parts of the building falling off.

When the collapse started, the building came down so incredibly fast that none of them had a chance to react. Has anybody ever seen a building collapse so suddenly and so rapidly? (Aside from demolition companies who destroy buildings with explosives.) What kind of fire does that to a steel building?

Firemen are begging for an investigation
Some people point out to me that the investigators would have noticed if these buildings had been blown up with explosives. However, there was no investigation. If you think this is just my opinion, take a look at this page at "Fire Engineering", which is a magazine for firemen. They are demanding a real investigation. Here is one quote from the editor in chief:

"Fire Engineering has good reason to believe that the 'official investigation' blessed by FEMA and run by the American Society of Civil Engineers is a half-baked farce that may already have been commandeered by political forces whose primary interests, to put it mildly, lie far afield of full disclosure."

For anyone who is interested, the House Science committee reports can be read by doing a search using "WTC" and "collapse" as keywords at http://www.house.gov/science/press/

Some interesting points to note.

Firstly, from the Testimony to the Science Committe by Dr W Gene Corley on behalf of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE):

The large quantity of fuel carried by each aircraft ignited upon impact into each building. A significant portion of this fuel was consumed immediately in the ensuing fireballs. The remaining fuel is believed either to have flowed down through through the buildings or to have burned off within a few minutes of the aircraft impact. The heat produced by this burning of jet fuel does not by itself appear to have been sufficient to initiate the structural collapses. However, as the burning jet fuel spread across several floors of the building, it ignited much of the buildings' contents, permitting fires to evolve across several floors of the buildings simultaneously. The heat output from these fires is estimated to have been comparable to the power produced by a large commercial generating station. Over a period of many minutes, this heat induced additional stresses into the damaged structural frames while simultaneously softening and weakening these frames. This additional loading and damage were sufficient to induce the collapse of both structures.

{Page 4}

Our analysis showed that the impact alone did not cause the collapse of the towers, but instead, left the towers vulnerable to collapse from any significant additional force, such as from high winds, an earthquake, or in the case of the Twin Towers, the fires that engulfed both buildings. Without that second event, the team believes the towers could have remained standing indefinitely.
Although steel is very strong, it loses some of its strength when heated. To prevent that loss of strength, structural steel is protected with fireproofing and sprinkler systems. In the towers, fires raged throughout several floors simultaneously, ignited by the jet fuel and fed by a proper mixture of paper and furniture. The impact dislodged some fireproofing on the structural beams and columns, which made them vulnerable to fire damage. With the sprinkler systems disabled, the fires raged uncontrollably, weakening the steel and leading to the collapse of the buildings.

{Page 5}

There is also an interesting report at
http://www.house.gov/science/hearings/full02/may01/append1.htm, which reveal some alarming incompetencies in the Committee's investigations:

Concerns Related to the Engineering Investigation

Though many of the individuals who have participated in the WTC building performance investigation are architects and engineers with experience investigating other structural collapses – including those resulting from natural causes as well as terrorist attacks – nothing had prepared these investigators for a disaster of this magnitude and complexity. Unlike the destruction caused by an earthquake, which may affect several buildings across an expansive area, this disaster involved many buildings and a massive debris pile in a small, confined area. Also unlike most earthquakes, the WTC disaster caused significant casualties and prompted a prolonged search and rescue effort. In addition, the concurrent criminal investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and a separate investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board further frustrated the building performance investigators.
The investigation has been hampered by a number of issues, including:

· No clear authority and the absence of an effective protocol for how the building performance investigators should conduct and coordinate their investigation with the concurrent search and rescue efforts, as well as any criminal investigation: Early confusion over who was in charge of the site and the lack of authority of investigators to impound pieces of steel for examination before they were recycled led to the loss of important pieces of evidence that were destroyed early during the search and rescue effort. In addition, a delay in the deployment of FEMA’s BPAT team may have compounded the lack of access to valuable data and artifacts.

· Difficulty obtaining documents essential to the investigation, including blueprints, design drawings, and maintenance records: The building owners, designers and insurers, prevented independent researchers from gaining access – and delayed the BPAT team in gaining access – to pertinent building documents largely because of liability concerns. The documents are necessary to validate physical and photographic evidence and to develop computer models that can explain why the buildings failed and how similar failures might be avoided in the future.

· Uncertainty as a result of the confidential nature of the BPAT study: The confidential nature of the BPAT study may prevent the timely discovery of potential gaps in the investigation, which may never be filled if important, but ephemeral evidence, such as memories or home videotapes, are lost. The confidentiality agreement that FEMA requires its BPAT members to sign has frustrated the efforts of independent researchers to understand the collapse, who are unsure if their work is complementary to, or duplicative of, that of the BPAT team. In addition, the agreement has prevented the sharing of research results and the ordinary scientific give-and-take that otherwise allows scientists and engineers to winnow ideas and strengthen results.

· Uncertainty as to the strategy for completing the investigation and applying the lessons learned: The BPAT team does not plan, nor does it have sufficient funding, to fully analyze the structural data it collected to determine the reasons for the collapse of the WTC buildings. (Its report is expected to rely largely on audio and video tapes of the event.) Nor does it plan to examine other important issues, such as building evacuation mechanisms. Instead, FEMA has asked the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to take over the investigation. Yet so far, NIST has not released a detailed plan describing how it will take over the investigation, what types of analyses it will conduct, how it will attempt to apply the lessons it learns to try to improve building and fire codes, and how much funding it will require.

Later on...

The National Institute of Standards and Technology {NIST}

NISTs Building and Fire Research Laboratory carries out research in fire science, fire safety engineering, and structural, mechanical, and environmental engineering. It is the only federal laboratory dedicated to research on building design and fire safety. In the past, the lab has investigated several structural failures using authority Congress made explicit in 1985. (15 U.S.C. 282a). The goals of its previous investigations were to determine the probable technical causes of the failures, examine what lessons could be learned from those determinations, and help develop improved building codes, standards, and practices. The investigations also identified areas of research that needed further study.
Shortly after the attack, NIST appointed an employee of the Building and Fire Research Laboratory to serve on the 23-member BPAT team. While this partnership lent some of NIST’s resources and expertise to the BPAT study, NIST did not immediately launch a formal investigation into the technical causes that led to the collapse of the World Trade Center buildings.

NIST believes that the World Trade Center collapse raises difficult and technical questions regarding building codes and standards, justifying the redirection of funds to its building and fire lab. For example, standards for concrete design, building loads, and structural integrity may need revision. In response, NIST has redirected $2 million of its fiscal year 2002 internal discretionary funds to the lab to supplement its current building egineering and standards work. NIST has also requested permission to reprogram from the rest of its laboratories another $2 million in fiscal year 2002 funds for these efforts. The reprogramming request is currently pending before the Office of Management and Budget and will ultimately need approval from Congress. NIST did not need Congressional review to redirect its discretionary funds.

Also noteworthy...

The BPAT {FEMA's FEMA Building Performance Assessment Team - V.} team deployed to the WTC site was assembled by the American Society of Civil Engineers and is headed by W. Gene Corley, Ph.D., P.E, Senior Vice President of Construction Technologies Laboratory in Skokie, Illinois. He was also the principal investigator in the FEMA study of Oklahoma City’s Murrah Federal Office Building. On September 11th, ASCE, in partnership with a number of other professional organizations, commenced the formation of an independent team of experts to conduct a building performance assessment study at the WTC site as part of ASCE’s Disaster Response Procedure. In late September, this team, the ASCE Disaster Response team, was officially appointed as the BPAT team and was funded by FEMA to assess the performance of the buildings and report its findings. The BPAT team received $600,000 in FEMA funding in addition to approximately $500,000 in ASCE in-kind contributions.

The 23-member BPAT team conducted an analysis of the wreckage on-site, at Fresh Kills Landfill and at the recycling yard from October 7-12, 2001, during which the team extracted samples from the scrap materials and subjected them to laboratory analysis. Why the analysis was conducted only after a delay of three weeks after the attacks remains unclear. Since November, members of the Structural Engineers Association of New York (SEAoNY) have volunteered to work on the BPAT team’s behalf and are visiting recycling yards and landfills two to three times a week to watch for pieces of scrap that may provide important clues with regard to the behavior of the buildings.

In the month that lapsed between the terrorist attacks and the deployment of the BPAT team, a significant amount of steel debris – including most of the steel from the upper floors – was removed from the rubble pile, cut into smaller sections, and either melted at the recycling plant or shipped out of the U.S. Some of the critical pieces of steel – including the suspension trusses from the top of the towers and the internal support columns – were gone before the first BPAT team member ever reached the site. Fortunately, an NSF-funded independent researcher, recognizing that valuable evidence was being destroyed, attempted to intervene with the City of New York to save the valuable artifacts, but the city was unwilling to suspend the recycling contract. Ultimately, the researcher appealed directly to the recycling plant, which agreed to provide the researcher, and ultimately the ASCE team and the SEAoNY volunteers, access to the remaining steel and a storage area where they could temporarily store important artifacts for additional analysis. Despite this agreement, however, many pieces of steel still managed to escape inspection.

The BPAT team is expected to release its report in April. Because FEMA requires the members of its BPAT team to sign a confidentiality agreement until the report is released, the exact scope of the report is unknown. But it appears from the role that BPAT teams normally play and general comments ASCE members of the BPAT team have made that the report is likely to include an examination of how the buildings behaved leading up to the collapse, hypotheses for which structural elements failed and thereby initiated the collapse, and recommendations for additional research and analysis.

For example, ASCE has said that the study will rely primarily on audio and video recordings, interviews with survivors, blueprints and design drawings of the World Trade Center, and evidence they or the SEAoNY volunteers have collected from the rubble. The BPAT team has access to more than 120 hours of high quality film footage and audiotapes of 911 communications with trapped victims. The BPAT team initially had difficulty in obtaining building blueprints and design drawings from either the City of New York, the Port Authority, the building owners, or the building designers due primarily to liability concerns on the part of the building owners and insurers. Belatedly, however, the team was provided access to these documents in early January.

ASCE has said that the BPAT study will not include an analysis of the evacuation or rescue procedures and may not be able to validate definitively any of a number of hypotheses regarding the collapse. But because of the confidentiality of the report, it is unclear whether the it will provide answers or simply lay out more questions. It is unknown, for example, to what degree the BPAT report will compare video evidence with that collected from the steel beams from the floors that were hit by the planes.

As a result, independent researchers are unsure how they can contribute to the understanding of how the buildings fell without unnecessarily duplicating work. Others fear that the BPAT’s silence on the scope of its report may allow critical aspects of the picture to be missed, and that, by the time the report is released and any such gaps are discovered, the trail of evidence that could provide answers may have grown cold.

And to sum up....

Based on some initial planning, NIST has preliminarily identified the following general areas for investigation:

· Determine technically, why and how the buildings collapsed (WTC 1 and 2, and possibly WTC 7);

· Investigate the technical aspects of fire protection, response, and evacuation, and occupant behavior and response;

· Determine whether state-of-the-art procedures were used in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the WTC building;

· Determine whether there are new technologies and procedures emerging that could be employed in the future to reduce the potential risks of collapse; and

· Identify building and fire codes, standards, and practices that warrant revision.

Makes it hard to investigate, doesn't it.

"New Seismic Data Refutes Official WTC Explanation

By Christopher Bollyn
Exclusive to American Free Press

http://www.americanfreepress.net/09_03_02/NEW_SEISMIC_/new_seismic_.html

9-5-2

Two unexplained "spikes" in the seismic record from Sept. 11 indicate huge bursts of energy shook the ground beneath the World Trade Center's twin towers immediately prior to the collapse.

American Free Press has learned of pools of "molten steel" found at the base of the collapsed twin towers weeks after the collapse. Although the energy source for these incredibly hot areas has yet to be explained, New York seismometers recorded huge bursts of energy, which caused unexplained seismic "spikes" at the beginning of each collapse.

These spikes suggest that massive underground explosions may have literally knocked the towers off their foundations, causing them to collapse.

In the basements of the collapsed towers, where the 47 central support columns connected with the bedrock, hot spots of "literally molten steel" were discovered more than a month after the collapse. Such persistent and intense residual heat, 70 feet below the surface, in an oxygen starved environment, could explain how these crucial structural supports failed.

Peter Tully, president of Tully Construction of Flushing, N.Y., told AFP that he saw pools of "literally molten steel" at the World Trade Center.

Tully was contracted after the Sept. 11 tragedy to re move the debris from the site.

Tully called Mark Loizeaux, president of Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Md., for consultation about removing the debris. CDI calls itself "the innovator and global leader in the controlled demolition and implosion of structures."

Loizeaux, who cleaned up the bombed Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, arrived at the WTC site two days later and wrote the clean-up plan for the entire operation.

AFP asked Loizeaux about the report of molten steel on the site.

"Yes," he said, "hot spots of molten steel in the basements."

These incredibly hot areas were found "at the bottoms of the elevator shafts of the main towers, down seven [basement] levels," Loizeaux said.

The molten steel was found "three, four, and five weeks later, when the rubble was being removed," Loizeaux said. He said molten steel was also found at 7 WTC, which collapsed mysteriously in the late afternoon.

Construction steel has an extremely high melting point of about 2,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Asked what could have caused such extreme heat, Tully said, "Think of the jet fuel."

Loizeaux told AFP that the steel-melting fires were fueled by "paper, carpet and other combustibles packed down the elevator shafts by the tower floors as they 'pancaked' into the basement."

However, some independent investigators dispute this claim, saying kerosene-based jet fuel, paper, or the other combustibles normally found in the towers, cannot generate the heat required to melt steel, especially in an oxygen-poor environment like a deep basement.

Eric Hufschmid, author of a book about the WTC collapse, Painful Questions,* told AFP that due to the lack of oxygen, paper and other combustibles packed down at the bottom of elevator shafts would probably be "a smoky smoldering pile."

Experts disagree that jet-fuel or paper could generate such heat.

This is impossible, they say, because the maximum temperature that can be reached by hydrocarbons like jet-fuel burning in air is 1,520 degrees F. Because the WTC fires were fuel rich, as evidenced by the thick black smoke, it is argued that they did not reach this upper limit.

The hottest spots at the surface of the rubble, where abundant oxygen was available, were much cooler than the molten steel found in the basements.

Five days after the collapse, on Sept. 16, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) used an Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) to locate and measure the site's hot spots.

Dozens of hot spots were mapped, the hottest being in the east corner of the South Tower where a temperature of 1,377 degrees F was recorded.

This is, however, less than half as hot at the molten steel in the basement.

The foundations of the twin towers were 70 feet deep. At that level, 47 huge box columns, connected to the bedrock, supported the entire gravity load of the structures. The steel walls of these lower box columns were four inches thick.

Videos of the North Tower collapse show its communication mast falling first, indicating that the central support columns must have failed at the very beginning of the collapse. Loizeaux told AFP, "Everything went simultaneously."

"At 10:29 the entire top section of the North Tower had been severed from the base and began falling down," Hufschmid writes. "If the first event was the falling of a floor, how did that progress to the severing of hundreds of columns?"

Asked if the vertical support columns gave way before the connections between the floors and the columns, Ron Hamburger, a structural engineer with the FEMA assessment team said, "That's the $64,000 question."

Loizeaux said, "If I were to bring the towers down, I would put explosives in the basement to get the weight of the building to help collapse the structure."

SEISMIC 'SPIKES'

Seismographs at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, N.Y., 21 miles north of the WTC, recorded strange seismic activity on Sept. 11 that has still not been explained.

While the aircraft crashes caused minimal earth shaking, significant earthquakes with unusual spikes occurred at the beginning of each collapse.

The Palisades seismic data recorded a 2.1 magnitude earthquake during the 10-second collapse of the South Tower at 9:59:04 and a 2.3 quake during the 8-second collapse of the North Tower at 10:28:31.

However, the Palisades seismic record shows that-as the collapses began-a huge seismic "spike" marked the moment the greatest energy went into the ground. The strongest jolts were all registered at the beginning of the collapses, well before the falling debris struck the Earth.

These unexplained "spikes" in the seismic data lend credence to the theory that massive explosions at the base of the towers caused the collapses.

A "sharp spike of short duration" is how seismologist Thorne Lay of University of California at Santa Cruz told AFP an underground nuclear explosion appears on a seismograph.

The two unexplained spikes are more than 20 times the amplitude of the other seismic waves associated with the collapses and occurred in the East-West seismic recording as the buildings began to fall.

Experts cannot explain why the seismic waves peaked before the towers actually hit the ground.

Asked about these spikes, seismologist Arthur Lerner-Lam, director of Columbia University's Center for Hazards and Risk Research told AFP, "This is an element of current research and discussion. It is still being investigated."

Lerner-Lam told AFP that a 10-fold increase in wave amplitude indicates a 100-fold increase in energy released. These "short-period surface waves," reflect "the interaction between the ground and the building foundation," according to a report from Columbia Earth Institute.

"The seismic effects of the collapses are comparable to the explosions at a gasoline tank farm near Newark on Jan. 7, 1983," the Palisades Seismology Group reported on Sept. 14, 2001.

One of the seismologists, Won-Young Kim, told AFP that the Palisades seismographs register daily underground explosions from a quarry 20 miles away.

These blasts are caused by 80,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate and cause local earthquakes between Magnitude 1 and 2. Kim said the 1993 truck-bomb at the WTC did not register on the seismographs because it was "not coupled" to the ground.

"Only a small fraction of the energy from the collapsing towers was converted into ground motion," Lerner-Lam said. "The ground shaking that resulted from the collapse of the towers was extremely small."

Last November, Lerner-Lam said: "During the collapse, most of the energy of the falling debris was absorbed by the towers and the neighboring structures, converting them into rubble and dust or causing other damage-but not causing significant ground shaking."

Evidently, the energy source that shook the ground beneath the towers was many times more powerful than the total potential energy released by the falling mass of the towers. The question is: What was that energy source?

While steel is often tested for evidence of explosions, despite numerous eyewitness reports of explosions in the towers, the engineers involved in the FEMA-sponsored building assessment did no such tests.

Dr. W. Gene Corley, who investigated for the government the cause of the fire at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco and the Oklahoma City bombing, headed the FEMA-sponsored engineering assessment of the WTC collapse.

Corley told AFP that while some tests had been done on the 80 pieces of steel saved from the site, he said he did not know about tests that show if an explosion had affected the steel.

"I am not a metallurgist," Corley said.

Much of the structural steel from the WTC was sold to Alan D. Ratner of Metal Management of Newark, N.J., and the New York-based company Hugo Neu Schnitzer East.

Ratner, who heads the New Jersey branch of the Chi ca go-based company, sold the WTC steel to overseas companies, reportedly selling more than 50,000 tons of steel to a Shanghai steel company known as Baosteel for $120 per ton. Ratner paid about $70 per ton for the steel.

Other shipments of steel from the WTC went to India and other Asian ports.

Ratner came to Metal Management after spending years with a metal trading firm known as SimsMetal based out of Sydney, Australia.

If you have made it this far, then I'll let you know that I am not trying to exhaust you, rather, just some weapons (in the absence of the aforementioned news video tape) you can use against your officials etc.

From the team that brought you 'All the companies in the world are owned by the Soloman family' and 'Shape-Changing lizards steal your semen through milk!' comes 'I think the Government blew up it's own buildings on Sept. 11th!'

Could you give us the summary of what you think is happening and why you think so? Maybe as a short paragraph or two? The problem with these core dumps is that it tends to leave me with a feeling of 'so what?'

I can't engage with that amount of data, whether it's a load of tosh or completely correct. Give us your opinions. That's what Barbelith needs.

To put it very simple, the end of our current situation and its outcome will depend on us the people and no one else, we must bring their houses down, if not, they will bring us down.

Guess who's back?

So how are you people up in Britain looking at the world today? How do you feel about all these British who are having themself, but espcially their children.. tagged..by their own free will.

How do you feel, living in acountry that might be standing very alone, if Blair goes along with Bush.

How do you feel as a people living in a country that by itself could define the outcome of this future WW3?

People are having themselves tagged by their own free will? Cool! Now if we can work out some way to hack into the signals those things are giving out we could have remote control humans! then we'll know how power hungry dictators and right-wing newspaper editors feel like! Excellent. As for the kids, Professor Cyborg, (if you've noticed our link in the Laboratory, 'Chipping's too good for them!') has run in to a few problems with his theory, the main one being it wouldn't work.

I'd love to comment on this, but I was killed in this event

@GOD: - A giant wawe will wash over New York in April next year ['02], although I have my guesses as to why it will happen they remain just that: guesses, so I prefer not to tell, but the wawe has been seen by many people.

Ah, but ze never defined what exactly ze meant by 'wawe', did ze?

I like to think of a "giant wawe washing over New York" as referring to Flyboy's arrival when he went over to visit last April, personally. Superfly - you're a giant wawe! And were seen by many people...

What have I done better? Well, just this weekend I got drunk, watched some videos, wrote an incredibly long piece sent to a terrorism NG and laughed my arse off to both Barry Ween and the Harryhausen tribute I linked to in the Conversation. Then today, stuck in an empty room of computers that no-one is using because they can't connect to the Internet I wrote 1500 words of a story no-one is ever going to want to read. I seem to be having more fun than you. Probably a fresh air thing, though comparing London with Greenland I'm not sure how that could be true...

What could you do better? Not carpet-bomb us every time you get a new conspiracy theory on www.I'm-a-credulous-moron.com would be a start.

I'm sorry, but this is old stuff and has already been debunked by people who know what they are talking about.

I'm a bit suspicious of debunkers, too.

Well, if I recall correctly, I'm thinking of This Horizon program which had a long interview with an architect as well as people who study these sorts of disasters to see what changes can be made to building designs in future.

There have been other articles in British newspapers but I think the above is the most exhaustive study of the lot.

Im just wondering if the "I'm not x but..." mantra has come about as a response to political correctness, as a handy verbal opt-out that can be used as a way to deflect criticism (in a similar way to ending statements with "no offense!"), or whether it's a seperate thing.

I didn't want to get the conversation on to the specifics of children and/or parental responsibility, if we consider this in general terms wrt; adults, where does this get us?
