I can't moderate

An error message comes up, telling me something along the lines that I don't have authorisation. The moderation tasks pending still comes up in my PM box, though. Anyone else?

Hmmm. That usually happens when you've already moderated a task and you try to do it again. Or you're not logged in. Or similar.

Yeah, I've done mod actions since changing my name (insert duality-obsession joke here). This is the first difficulty I've run into. Changing my name was just a matter of amending it on my profile, it shouldn't have changed anything.

Just a thought - a couple of people have mentioned having difficulties with their private messages after altering their on-screen name.

That usually happens when you've already moderated a task and you try to do it again.

I don't think it mentions anything about not being authorised to do it, though. "You have already voted on this action and may not vote again" or "This moderation action is already in the queue" are the usual notices.

I get that message about not having authorization every now and again, but then whatever thing I wasn't authorized to do seems to go ahead and happen anyway. Sort of like in real life.

Yup - it's normally a problem associated with someone else moderating it before you've got to it... Don't worry about it.
