Highlights:
Mr. Bolton averred that there were no 'Statists' in the Bush government. Apparently, this means that people should be told to get on with their own nation-building once America has freed them by bombing their national infrastructure flat. To do otherwise, Mr. Bolton appears to feel, would be something akin to Totalitarianism.
Mr. Bolton propounded what we may call the 'Bolton Doctrine' (as a good Burkian Conservative, Mr. Bolton doesn't like the word 'doctrine') which goes as follows: If you believe in the Security Council, you have to follow Security Council resolutions.
I have no problem with that. I shall be fascinated to watch it applied across the board.
Interview just aired (before midday, 15th Sept 2002), so with any luck there'll be a transcript or audio soon via the Beeb site. |
