I tend to think of the recursion of self awareness element as actually being a subset of a broader category: input. We receive sensory input from the outside, which is processed. However, we also receive internal diagnostic input from internal senses. Among these includes the sense of what we are thinking. Interpreting our own dreams and thoughts, thinking about thinking, is itself still input and processed by the same mechanisms. Only, the source is changed.
So would that be best represented as seperate elements of input and self awareness? Possibly, as without the self awareness, one can not gain input from one's self, and thus have that necessary recursive element to consciousness. |
