An intermittent problem, but a very frustrating one: I click on a thread title and none of the posts load. I know it's not just taking a long time, because the 'stop loading' button is greyed out. It seems to get as far as creating the generic stuff and then gives up. At the moment it's happening with the "Modern Art is Rubbish" thread in the Conversation. Started happening about post 12, and continues to do so. Anyone else get this? Know the solution? I'm using Netscape 4.7, and it's at work so I can't upgrade.

Ah. Well that probably is the problem to be honest, and there's not a lot that I can do about it, since Netscape 4.7 literally is the satan's-warty-cock-sucker of browsers. It's like a festering sore or an abcess inside web development circles. I'll mention it to Cal when he gets back from holiday, and hopefully he'll be able to think of something. But don't bet the farm on it...

Cyuh, just my luck. Thanks, Tom. I wouldn't bother Cal about it, it doesn't happen very often and I've discovered I can read the text by viewing source. I'll ask a moderator to delete this thread in the morning.

I had precisely the same problem on the same thread. Then I just turned my machine off and on again and it was okay.

It is indeed Netscape 4.7. However, what causes it is always the same thing: an open html tag in one of the messages. Fixing it just requires a mod to close the broken tag, which is usually an i or b tag left ajar somewhere. The current board doesn't parse the html much, just passes it on as message text. So, these tend to slip by more than they did when we were using UBB code instead.

Um, would this be the same problem I've got? I post on a thread, then can't get to see that thread, even though my post has gone through and other people have responded to it? If there's anything I can do about this, please advise 'cos it's getting annoying!

Tis the Countryside Alliance Counter-Demonstration one, in Da Gathering. I am still subject to social exclusion therefrom.

Ah, all is now well. I am no longer ostracised. If anyone did anything to help there, you have my gratitude. (Browser? The aforementioned dodgy one.)

Hmmmm, I am currently having probs with this one. Is there anything a mod can do? Ta! Also, can someone tell me what exactly I can do to avoid this happening again? Or done have to bother a mod every time?

Apparently, it happens when some HTML tags are written improperly; in that case, it was a missing " after the URL. I fixed it, awaiting moderator seconding.

Thanks G (and whoever else mod's it). Clearly bad typing has been my downfall here, and my lesson has been learned.

Y'know, if it's your own post, you can mod the changes yourself....
