I'm slightly surprised there isn't a Rasputina thread around here...

Well, I just thought of them since they're doing a Halloween show around here.

Seriously, has no on at Barbelith heard of these lovely gals? I got introduced to them by my sig. other and I get a bit more respect for them as time goes on. Basically, for those that don't know- they're a cello trio (sometimes with a drummer) who do these rather moody and atmospheric pieces. It's punk cello, mixed with a decidedly twisted sense of humor. It's like Dame darcy from Meatcake started a band. The lead singer Melora is this blond rag doll of a human being who jokes about Bjork and Pj Harvey getting into a fist fight and her obsession with Howard Hughes and Mickey Rooney, right next to covers of Led Zeppelin or "I Ride my Bicycle". They sort of get this "goth" label mostly because of the way they dress and the fact they opened for Marilyn Manson one year. (They were hated. At one show, after being spit on may times- melora in her sing-song Stephen King doll voice said "After this show, we will go back to our mothers and spit on them. because you have shown us that that is how you say 'I Love you'.")

I think I've babbled enough.

I thought they were doing the Halloween show in Bloomington? Unless you actually are in Bloomington. I'll have to check on this...

Suggestion: Start a Rasputina thread in the Music forum.
