I was looking around for something to listen to on our trip this weekend and I came across an advance copy of Richard Ashcrofts new album. Haven't had a real listen yet but...

From richardashcroft.co.uk:

Richard Ashcroft reveals Human Conditions:

New album released in October 2002

The new album is the follow-up to Alone with Everybody - Ashcroft's debut as a solo artist - which topped the UK chart during the summer of 2000.

Human Conditions features ten new Richard Ashcroft songs. Among the contributors to the album are Beach Boys' founder and musical genius, Brian Wilson, who adds harmony vocals to Nature is the Law; Chuck Leavell, the keyboards player whose recording credits include work with such luminaries as Aretha Franklin and The Rolling Stones; former Verve drummer Pete Salisbury, who also worked with Ashcroft on Alone with Everybody; and the Mercury Music Prize-winning Talvin Singh on tablas.

The album was co-produced by Ashcroft in partnership with longtime studio collaborator, Chris Potter. The string arrangements are by Will Malone.

I'm looking forward to this. Don't expect it to be massively ground-breaking or set the world on fire or anything, but as a long-time Verve fan (we share the same hometown; Ashcroft used to live across the road from me) I religiously buy anything connected with them. It'll probably piss all over the new Oasis album, anyway.

His first solo album was great, I thought. I can't wait for this next one.
