My new persona needs a record collection - help!

Okay. For the past two years or so, I've been doing a long-running invocation of a god-form primarily associated with anger, vengeance, destruction, and other such heavy-metal style subject matter. Recently - having gotten sick of the type of evil prick I was becoming - I decided to cancel the invocation and re-invent myself as a kinder, gentler, peace-loving character. Which worked, and which I'm extremely happy about. But. But but but but but...

While doing this whole invocation thing, both in order to reinforce it, and because my tastes gravitated that way as a result, I've been listening to a lot of quite aggressive music. Which, at the minute, doesn't really do much for me. Which is kind of annoying. So what I'd like is for you guys to recommend some decent, upbeat sort of stuff that would appeal to the new, pacifistic vandal persona. What I'm after is music that's positive, but not stupidly New Agey: just because I'm meditating a lot more these days, that doesn't mean I wanna listen to bloody whale music, y'know?

I await your suggestions...

Here's some stuff that's positive w/o the seemingly otherwise obligatory full-frontal lobotomy vibe of most "happy" music. The Velvet Underground's self-titled third album. The Modern Lovers' self-titled first album (or any Jonathan Richman stuff, depending on who you ask). Neutral Milk Hotel's In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. And you can never go wrong w/Stevie Wonder (might I suggest Songs In The Key Of Life?).

The Happies.

No, really.

and Disintegrated Einstein.

Both are masters of sonic virus. The first has bapadum de-dees in the choruses. The second sounds a bit like the Archies mashed up with Southern Culture on the Skids.

Rev. Horton Heat would be a good transition from the death metal to something more affirmative.

I second these fine recommendations, when I began my transformation from teen angst metalhead to super chemically powered raveonaut these where two bright signposts in the same direction.

Early Future Sound of London (Indo tribe, Stakker etc.) was really fun too...
