Hokay. Saw what was apparently a rough cut of "Charlie's Family" a couple of years back. As far as I remember, it had very little in the way of music. Then saw an album by Download, which was "The soundtrack to Charlie's Family". So, question one, did it ever actually happen in the end?
Then a couple of weeks ago, bought the "Roadkill/My Sweet Satan" DVD. "Roadkill"'s kind of entertaining, in that it is the absolute cliche of exploitation splatter/serial killer movies. Just when you think you're gonna get some kind of insight/message/whatever, you cut to the guy running around clutching his head screaming "Why? WHY? WHY?"
"My Sweet Satan", on the other hand, is actually not as good, but is pretty much a dry run for "Charlie's Family"- the faked retrospective interviews, etc, except it's about Ricky Kasso rather than Charles Manson.
Then you get an interview with the guy, and he seems really cool- you watch his first short monster movies, hear him talk with (a stoned kind of) passion about his love for horror movies...
I know fuck all about this man other than the above. And the fact that you can't get "Deadbeat at Dawn" in the UK.
Anyone help me out? I'm intrigued. "Roadkill" and "My Sweet Satan", while not being that great, showed promise. "Charlie's Family" seemed like it could have been done better, but was a long way from being shit. |
