You Barbeloid know your music, so I was just wondering if anyone had heard the new album by the Queens of the Stone Age, I'm listening to it as I write this (as much as I can listen to anything at work) - So far though its excellent, I'm going to buy it on the way home - just wanted to get some opinions really?

I intend to buy it this weekend, Bear, so I'll let you know what I think. It had had some great reviews but I don't want to get too excited unless it is a let down.

I have so totally met QOTSA when they played at a club I used to work at in Glasgow. I suspect the success they have since had has something to do with the good vibes I sent them.

It's brilliant. Fab. Total fucking rock. You know those spam e-mails that promise a 30% increase in the size of your genitalia? This record will do that.

Downloaded it a couple months ago and have listened to it regularly. It's stylistically varied but still cohesive and very listenable. Spread across more of the map than Rated R but more together, somehow. Copy arrived in the mail yesterday, bonus DVD and all.

Obligatory complaint:
I don't dig the radio staion thing that runs through the record. While it's a valid point, it's one that's been beat to death and it gets old after a few listens. When I get a chance I'll probably fire up Wavelab and remove all that stuff for car/discman listening.

I can't really get it together to get the album at the moment, but as it's by Queens of the Stone Age, I feel the odds are massively in favour of it being GOOD.

The Return Of Rothkoid
01:42 / 31.08.02
Ooh. I can't wait to get a copy. I've seen it around on listening posts in the city, but was a bit hesitant, given that I think that while they have more cock rockage per mile than many out there, I've always felt a bit let down by the lack of cohesion on their albums... so if this one's a bit tighter... woohoo!

I need me some twelve-foot guitar, I think.

fucking excellent. hands down best "rock" album I've heard in a while. Theres something subversive about this thing too. I haven't quite worked it out yet.

KLON Radio - We play the songs that sound more like anyone else, than anyone else.

I'm liking it so far. Need a few more plays though.

Yeah a few more plays are needed but first impressions are excellent, bought it on the way home on Friday - the DVD is a nice little extra too...

How good is "No one Knows" though - great stuff..

whats the name of that song about pills and and other drugs that has a fucking lethal cartoon video?

The Return Of Rothkoid

"Feelgood Hit Of The Summer" and it's not on this album.

The radio station bits are what really fucking wears on this album.

I always seem to be the one that mentions work warnings, possibly because I'm at work and pictures of guys with there knobs out don't go down very well...

Reseach, Nurse?

Kinda hard typing with one hand, is it? No way kid, I stumbled across this on my way to another site and I thought it would serve as a fitting tribute...
