Kaos Magazine

Had to draw your attention to this.
Joel Biroco's Kaos magazine is back. The original magazine was a semenal piece of Chaos magick madness, with a very different slant on "Chaos" and its meanings. As anyone who saw the earlier issues will realise, Joel likes an extreme gesture, and here that takes the form of a gargantuan 200 page tome of orginal and iconoclastic occult writing, downloadable as a free PDF from here:

I've hardly read any of it, but it's worth it for Alan Moore's review of Kenneth Grant alone: "Mad as tits on a pirhana"!!
The magazine was orginally accompanied by a supplement detailing someone's career/nervous breakdown in a certain big magickal order, but they being rather oppressive and authoritarian have apparently threatened Joel's ISP with legal action, so it's now been removed, though I'm sure copies will stay in circulation.

If you click around for a bit on Joel's site you should find it. Apapparently he's "mirroring" it to various other sites and intends to keep it in circulation somehow even if he has to bounce it all round the web.

It's a nice publication. Would have been better if it didn't exert so much energy on bashing the various magical groups such as OTO and IOT. The grudge the author(s) holds overshadows the otherwise interesting material. Regardless of my opinions about any group, I am personally tired of the politics and would prefer to hear more about the actual magick people are doing than all the inter-personal bullshit. It's all been said before already, hate who you are going to hate and move on to something more productive.

Yeah, Biroco doesn't seem to have anything positive to say about Chaos magicians. It's a bit disheartening.

I agree with what you say about Biroco, to a degree. I think he's pretty aggressive towards everyone, but particulary those who set themselves high. Seems to be self-appointed to knock everyone else off their pedestals. I think this is a good thing sometimes, as theres a lot of unecessary bollocks and pomposity that surround occultism and sometimes the attitudes of certain groups seem to perpetuate rather than challenge this.
However, dunno if I want to hear this all the time. Have to read more before pulling together an opinion.

At the moment, the supplement to KAOS, The Black Lodge of Santa Cruz, can be found here...

Go download KAOS 14 and read The bit on Juxtapositional Magick.

It completely escapes the backbitting and talks about magick in the way that Hakim Bey talks about art!
