Dassy: yr always dismissing Grant's more wacky/magickal ideas as "shit"... why do you read his books?

How could I criticize his ideas if I wouldn't have read his (comic)books?

And to tell you the truth, I didn't even get to criticize his work properly, that was just a comment on the way he choses to express his ideas. That reads "twat" from miles away.

But isn't "the way he expresses his ideas", y'know, his work. Oh, I suppose yr entitled to yr opinion....grumble......

By the way, will the interview take place tomorrow??

It's funny...

I read a review of Gaiman's 'Coraline' and am reading 'Pollen' by Jeff Noon, now. Both have this 'through the looking glass' shit in them. It seems to be coming together.

Except of course Pollen was written best part of a decade ago and Coraline was started at the original time, and Jeff Noon is a big Lewis Carroll fan...

thanks for all the help everyone.

interview is tomorrow night - I'l tell you now - it's not going to be challenging - I'm too much of a fan and I'm shitting myself.

gahhhh.

Ask him if he ever DID get shagged up the arse by 'some burly wrestler or sex-crazed Malaysian rent-boy'!

Chris Farley: Uh, you know the bit in The Invisibles where King Mob is in the corridor shooting all the guards?

GM: Yeah?

Chris Farley: And they're all, like, dying and stuff, and one of them says 'This isn't happening' or something?

GM: Yeah...

Chris Farley: And King Mob says 'It is happening'?

GM: Yeah.

Chris Farley: That was cool.

Chris Farley: (mutters uncomfortably) ....kinda.

GM: (pause) Okay.

Well, there's that I suppose... it's more like a personal coincidence rather than a universal one (is there a difference? I don't know.) The stuff about Sep. 11 being 1st contact with the fictional world really struck me and started tying it all together: I started reading 'Pollen', with no knowledge of what it was to be like, after seeing that here. And didst find...

Exactly.

Have you read Vurt? The real world/unreal world thing is more blatant in that one, and better used too.

interview done - good three hour session man - both kristan and grant are extremely nice people.

I'll transcribe it when I'm on holiday and the article won't be out till November.

Lots of interesting stuff in there and I'll check with all parties to see about posting the whole thing.

You be pleased to know that Grant was at his most animated and lucid as he talked about the Celebrities in the Jungle tv show.

Oh no... Then all that stuff 'bout instant gratification syndromes is right, and I am right now going through an acute crisis...

off on holiday for two weeks - it'll be transcribed while I'm there and hopefully I can release it then: so about three weeks wait.

Hey, I just noticed the abstract calls him 'grunt marrison'. Har har har.

Lada, yeah, I loved Vurt. Pollen was interesting in a different way: fictiondrugs 'n shit. Needle in the Groove ain't that hot in comparison.

undo: cannae wait, min.

Thanks for the info Undo.

Vurt blew my mind and had a certain, jagged poetry to its fucked-up, incest-ridden needy protagonist. Pollen, by way of contrast, read like a low-grade retread Sandman aimed at 40-something year old Guardian readers.

I would've asked GM why he didn't make "fictional contact" with the DCU and put Frank Quitely in contact with the Speed Force.

just want to say that there is some stuff in interview which you will enjoy, other stuff which you will think - 'Well I've already heard that shtuff before' and unfortunately it is by no means the definitive interview which Undo promised.

Mainly because Undo is an asshole.

but some of it is quite funny. (because Undo's a bit of a laugh and so is morrison)

And also Undo pretended to be ME for the interview.

UNDO, if you are listening: you are a total cock.

that said - he did not bad and I'm sure it'll slake yer thirst.

Is he you, Yawn? You are both Glesca boys, aren't you? Very convenient.

aye, dunkers- it is me. I thocht it was obvious. We should meet up some time. I was once very fond of Dundee United you know.

Ralph Milne and his lovely chip at Dens Park to win the league in 82/83.

Sturrock and his socks round his ankles.

Davie Fuckin Dodds!

malpas.

Hegarty.

Gough.

McCalpine.

Even big John Holt.

Oh shit, you're a dundee fan aren't you?

The Falcon
21:32 / 18.11.02
I'm actually a Dons fan, due to circumstances of birth.

I hate Dundee United nonetheless - but in a kind of loving manner.

Ah, the 'New Firm', eh? What a nice idea.

Shame it didnae last.

The Falcon

How old are you? 82/83? Christ.

Sorry.

I've got a video of Gothenburg, but the earliest memory I have of footer is Feyenoord knocking us out the UEFA cup in 86/87 or 87/88, on away goals - the sneaky cunts, as my 7 or 8 yr. old self doubtless thought.

Incidentally - Morrison: Hun or Tim? Or Partick Thistle - he has written plays, after all, you know?

I've allus suspected Tim, but Morrison seems like a Prod name.

I'm a tim masel but my mum who's Irish encouraged me away from celtic as a kid cos of all the shite associated with it. hence my admiration for DU.

aye, the new firm, hah!

I'm thirty by the way - snot that old.
