Where to live in London?

once I start to understand how London fits together, and how the boroughs compare in terms of price and atmosphere.

I think, that in Inner London at least, there are too many people and lifestyles crammed together for it too make much sense. Where I live - a fair few rich looking white people, I'd guess Media or City workers, earning buckets no doubt, loadsa Bangladeshi families in cheap council housing. Fair few white working class folk, and just up the road lots of students and Italian/Spanish squatters.

If you want to really understand it, walk around. You'll be amazxed at the false picture you generate from the tube map.

Ps. If you want to hook up a beer sometime, PM me. (I used to post as Illmatic, we had a lengthy Hakim Bey discussion a while back).

Right. Usual plea for people who know people who need people to eat from the same fridge as them.

Starting a new job in London in the middle of September, and so looking for anyone with a room going at some point during that month (flexible from August about when I can move, and have some temporary crash space so even my 17th Sep start date isn't inviolable).

Anyone? Must be cheap, obv.

I'm also planning to move to London about then (hopefully September 13th), although to become a student again as opposed to for a job. If you get too many offers of rooms that you don't want, let me know, since I might be interested in them.

I need to live somewhere not too hideously far from Goodge Street though.

Pin - I will be leaving my room on sept 1st, it's approx 350p/m including all bills including TV licence and broadband, for a very spacious furnished double room in a nice semi with a garden backing onto a park, chilled out progressively minded flatmates, easy going landlady, and ten minutes walk from Turnpike Lane tube.

PM me if you're interested.

P.S. Freemasons not welcome

Hey, just on the off-chance, I don't suppose anybody currently knows of a decent room to rent in South-East London...?

Not for me, for a friend of mine... she's new to London and living in an absolute shithole, so thought I'd do a bit of searching on her behalf...

PM me or whatever if you've got any leads ; cheers!

What, actually, counts as South-East?

Not that I have a room going around me, or that I think "around me" - Leytonstone - counts as South, but you know...

I feel like this is the sort of thing I should know, is what I'm trying to say.

Um, yes, I rather fear that Leytonstone isn't terribly South according to any sensible geography, seeing as how it marks the most Northern point covered by my pocket A-Z (but then who needs sensible geography? I hate geography; it's so... confining, causes so much hassle.. the hell with it, I say!)

But ANYWAY; ideally I think what's needed is a nice, friendly place somewhere in the region of New Cross / Greenwich / Lewisham / Blackheath / Deptford etc.
