I'm digging the boards a bit more nowadays. Nice to see new faces and what have you. I'm curious to see if there's been any problems or suggestions to pursue now that there's been some changes going on at the 'lith. Also...any of the newbies (no offense) have any questions, suggestions, etc. ?

Also...is there a timeframe for the brought up changes from other threads? I dig the review ideas for one. And I know it's a lot of work that sits squarely on the shoulders of a busy few. Would be willingly to throw my hat in the ring to give it a jumpstart if need be.

I have been visiting this site since February and just until recently joined. Thanks again to Tom and his hard work. I've seen hundreds of people join also. I love the conversations that go on here. Nothing is more stimulating than reading and being involved in the issues that are addressed here. From graffitti to religion to the cool stuff in creation. I am glad to be a part of this and I know more people realize the potential of the site. I feel like I should contribute an article to the webzine, I'm compelled and I know I can do it. Joe's article about "Rap is Gay" really inspired me to keep the webzine active. Let's see what I come up with.

I have no questions other than how to put links and pics up. I know there is a thread that relates...could someone school me or post that thread? That would be appreciated.

In both of these examples, you have to change the [ ] brackets to < > ones to get them to work.

For links:

[a href="LINK ADDRESS IN HERE"]WHATEVER YOU WANT YOUR LINK TO SAY HERE[/a]

For images:

Include the quote marks in the code. To get the URL of a picture, right-click on the image you want (it must be hosted on another site, i.e. already on the 'Net somewhere) and select 'Properties'. The URL is in the 'Address' field.

I wonder whether extra traffic of new members is hurting Tom's wallet and whether we've been getting more donations as new members join.

It's not hurting my wallet yet - we're within the bandwidth of the $130 a month account. But we're also not getting any more donations, so EVENTUALLY it's going to start hurting...

Once more with feeling:

<a href="http://www.whatever the URL of the website is">Whatever you're calling the link</a>
Makes a link

<img src="http://www.Whatever the URL of the image is">
Inserts an image in your post

Some places won't let you post images in this way-- for example, Geocities. Bandwidth ishoos. Use your own servers or a free image host.

WE NEED AN FAQ AND WE NEED IT NOW

I've been telling Tom I'm happy to do one, for weeks and months now. I really will, if he just tells me which tags are legal. I'll do it within a few hours. Really. It would save so much time.

It'd be great if that faq included some links to good free image hosting sites.

And hey - we've finally got a FAQ. How cool is that? http://www.barbelith.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl
