Oh! I like that. I always resolve to pick up stones that look good for skimming after seeing Amelie. Don't get many round here, but when I was in Devon... I like Amelie. I like skimming rocks. It is good.

A month! Cool. Maybe now he can become more to me than just a shoulder disappearing round a corner. Though I have to warn you that I've fallen in love with him since reading his SFD story in Creation.

Annoying about the photography - it looked really cool. If I find it, I'll post something. Anyway, did anyone go to the Carnival this weekend?

Ganesh
21:22 / 25.08.02
I like it. It is warm.

Anyone else bemused that the two-part 'Messiah' thing didn't air on Saturday and Sunday, as advertised? I was kinda looking forward to this, and was mildly pissed off that they screened 'The Lost World' instead. D'you reckon it was changed because of the Holly & Jessica thing?

Oh dear. I didn't realise there was a posting limit. What is it?

I guess this is what comes of my flitting ways, and for me to merely flit in to this little conversational thread and thus waste all the valuable knowledge that I could have dispensed throughout the rest of the board.... ah well, I guess you'll all just to live in wonder.

Ganesh
21:25 / 25.08.02
Ariadne, I think I've fallen more in love with him since that story...

Ariadne
21:28 / 25.08.02
Ganesh, yeah, it's great. I hope he keeps writing it, I'm hooked.

I've taken the phrase 'strumming an ardent tune' as my own. In fact, on that note, it might be bedtime...

Ganesh
21:30 / 25.08.02
Well, we sat in Kudos on Saturday afternoon and discussed the ending...

Watching a slightly surreal ITV thing on Soft Cell - bringing back sweet memorieeeees...

Seth
21:31 / 25.08.02
It's the Lips version of Wonderful World and I'm starting to feel blubbery.

I've never ever come close to the posting limit before. When do my magic points get topped up again? Sunset or sunrise?

Persephone
21:31 / 25.08.02
Hey, all. If there's a bank holiday, I guess that means it's going to be quiet on the board tomorrow. Is the time there the same as it reads on the time stamp? Is there more than one time zone in the U.K.?

Ganesh
21:32 / 25.08.02
Wondering if they're gonna show 'Sex Dwarf'...

Ariadne
21:32 / 25.08.02
Ooh, that's good news - I was worried he'd get bored and leave it half way. I'll look forward to it.

And I haven't hit the posting limit yet, either, expressionless. I thought it had been stopped? I expect we'll all find out soon.

Ariadne
21:34 / 25.08.02
Hi Persephone! The time you can see is GMT - one hour later than it really is for us, because of British Summer Time, when the clocks change. And yes, it'll probably be quiet tomorrow.

Seth
21:34 / 25.08.02
Hey, Persephone. How's life?

Loved the t-shirt, mate. I haven't forgotten about payment - it will be with you shortly.

Allo Persephone!

Does anyone know what the post limit is?

Exp: did you hear the lips on that radio show? (I'm sorry "that" radio show is as detailed as I can get) Flux put a link up on his blog. It's quite good (you can read all about it there too) they played Knives out and Can't get you out of my head - as well as some nice versions of songs from the new album. Good stuff. They were on some BBC show as well, called "Realoded" doing some Elvis cover, I couldn't quite take it all in, because I was so surprised to turn over and see them on the telly.

Oh, and 'Nesh, there's a new Smiths doco on in Novemeber I think. ITV. Features "never-before-seen-footage!" etc

I'm quite scared that this is probably my most prolific posting. Ever.

Ganesh
21:43 / 25.08.02
I think the limit's either 25 or 30 posts in 24 hours - but I could be wrong...

Persephone
21:44 / 25.08.02
Ah, thanks Ari. I always wondered.

Life's very good. It's my birthday weekend, actually. Husb has set the bar very high for birthdays this year... I got all-comic presents, including How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way and this one I'm reading now Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art is really excellent & sort of mind-blowing.

Glad you like the tee.

Seth
21:45 / 25.08.02
No, I didn't catch any of that wonderful Lippage. I'm now onto The Abandoned Hospital Ship, really feeling like I should head bedwards but I'm now obsessed with trying to find a working X-Men 2 trailer online. Did I mention that I get really frightening when I'm obsessed?

Seth
21:46 / 25.08.02
Happy Birthday! How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way fills me with Stan Lee "Exelsior!" fuzzy childhood happy memories.

21:48 / 25.08.02
I'm here, if anyone's still around. I've just been watching the X-Files and I got a fair bit of writing done today, but apart from that I've had one of the most crummy days of my life.

Luckily someone gave me an Elvis pen the other day, so all is not lost.

Ariadne
21:48 / 25.08.02
Hapy birthday Persephone! They sound look great presents - plenty to keep you amused if Barbelith is quiet. I imagine it'll depend on the weather tomorrow - if it rains, there'll be lots of posts. But it looks nice so far.

So you're reading Proust? How far have you got? I'm about to start volume 6 and I'm half sad, half relieved, that I'll soon be finished.

Ariadne
21:49 / 25.08.02
Hiya, shortfatdyke. Why such a bad day?

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!

Doesn't everyone (get frightening when obssessed) ?

So, did anyone else watch that programme about how even "celebreties" are scared of snakes? I liked how it really hammered the point home. Yes, jungle. SNAKES SNAKES SNAKES! ooooooo! I only watched it because I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed, mind.

oh, what a wonderful life. I wish it would just go away, is all.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!

oh oh oh! Not meaning to be impolite, y'know, guv'nor, y'know, happy birfdays, hellos to everyone n' all.

Seth
21:51 / 25.08.02
No, but I saw a nature documentary in which a boa constrictor ate a little monkey whole! It was awesome. Plus I learned that the world's smallest monkey weighs only 100 grams, and that the largest spider in the world is a terrifying motherfucker of a beast.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
21:53 / 25.08.02
Shit, I really like monkeys as well. Not as good as badgers though.

Seth
21:57 / 25.08.02
I think the smallest ones are called pygmy marmosets. People keep some species as pets to eat their hair lice.

I watched this really cool programme about jaguars the other week though, that was great. They're really slinky and agile. I love the way they move. It was a great programme - except for the part where it showed two turtles mating and sounded like they'd dubbed porn over it. It was deeply fascinating though. If you imagine the average male orgasm as generally portrayed upon television - and then imagine that man being a little turtle, then you can only understand a slight portion of this amazing image.

I wish I'd taped it. I really did not know a little turtle face could make those wholly recognisable shapes and.. uh... gestures. Oh, I can't explain fully... I'll leave you to wonder about it.

Ganesh
22:02 / 25.08.02
Snapping Turtle, you say?

Seth
22:04 / 25.08.02
The face of a Turtle in orgasm. I'm starting to want to go to bed...

Happy birthday, Persephone, hello all.

Ariadne - it's just bad London vibes. Lots of bad things happening around here recently. A fair amount of personal shit going on, too. But I, too, have been watching nature programmes today - found I have an awful lot in common with the tree sloth. My kind of animal - slow, slow metabolism.

Been reading the rest of this thread - I do wish I could contribute to ZoCher's story. It's too good to follow, though, quite frankly.

Persephone
22:10 / 25.08.02
I'm still in Volume 2, Within A Budding Grove. It's going very slowly, mostly because I started drawing a lot and so I'm not reading very much.

Yeah, I feel pretty much like a kid. I feel like the last 35 years were my adulthood & now I finally get to be a kid. I asked my mom today if I'm not about the age she was when she started painting, and she said No! I started much later! 1985! (My mom always exclaims.) So she was 52 when she got started. That practically makes me an early bloomer.

Ariadne
22:14 / 25.08.02
Good for you, Persephone - I'd love to be able to draw or paint. I'm not even writing much just now.
And Proust - well, I think you have to read dit slowly, anyway. Although I liked it, it took me until volume 4 to really get into it. And even now, I have to make myslf sit down and read. But it's worth it.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
22:17 / 25.08.02
Yes yes! Draw and paint! It is good.

Although, personally, I'm never sure if I like it - or if I just feel a horrid irrepresible urge to do it. I try to resist, and I just feel like I have a huge burden of work I have to get done. but I never do.

I wish I had someone who would draw and paint for me, but whom I could say was me. That's how it should work, then I could do lots of work...

Take it to the book forum, peeps. This thread's for mokeys, badgers and stone collecting.

Seth
22:18 / 25.08.02
That was supposed to be "Monkeys," BTW. Not the green-haired poetry Fraggle.
