Jane's Addiction... they're back and they rock harder than your mother!

Jane's Addiction. Oh my God. Never saw 'em back in the old days, and, to be honest, was expecting the newly reformed version to be, well, a bit poo. But no! They were fucking excellent- they played a version of "Three Days" that went on for, like, actually about Three Literal Days! And it was good.

Only thing is, a friend of mine saw 'em on Monday night at the Forum, and said they were terrible and Perry couldn't hit the high notes anymore- something certainly not true at Reading.

So my question is this- did anyone else see 'em recently? Which of us is wrong, or was Monday just an off-night (or, indeed, Friday just a good day)?

it's not that hard to rock harder than my mother, she doesn't rock at all.

*sigh* I so wanted to see Janes Addiction when they were touring the u.s. I anticipated it for two years. When they came to my area, I was unemployed and flat broke. *sigh* Same with Tool. The good bands I've been wanting to see forever, only come when I have no job.

Could somebody explain why Jane's Addiction are good? I've honestly forgotten. When I was 15, I was amazed. Now they sound long-winded and pretentious. Perry Farrel's lyrics give the me impression that he wsa dropped as a small child. "Sister and her boyfriend living in a park/Had to leave home 'cause he was dark/Now they have a baby boy and he's go-oh-orgeous." Yes, Mr. Farrel, racism is bad. Now write a good song about it.

And please, I mean no offense. There's a lot I listen to that people consider pretentious and just plain bad. I like Momus for chrissake. I'm just curious what their strengths are
