Premise-----Dennis Leary co-producing a comedy series on Comedy Central
the way the show was picked was through a contest and the show, Contest Searchlight, is a reality TV documentary of the making of the show, said to premier in JAn 2003
I have watched the 1st 2 episodes of this, and run into a strange problem
1st ep---John Stewart, slated to work with Dennis on the show, bails, and after searching they get Lenny something who co-starred on The Job as the replacement
10 semi finalists gather in a bar to find out who will be the finalists, and of course there is drinking and smoking and swearing going on, one semi finalist blows up at Dennis after she is not picked as a finalist. So, 3 finalists are a guy who wants to make an animated sitcom, a girl whose idea is 4 friends in NY who meet and talk and then Jesus pops in, and a guy who wants to make an improve sitcom that is full of deep meaning,
Dennis, while drunk, mixes the last 2 show ideas into an improve show starring jesus, and thats where it ends
Ep 2 starts with brainstorming about who should star in the show and dennis away at rehab, eventually the decide that peter gallagher will be Jesus, but before they are sure they can get him a flunky calls Colin Quinn to come to the shoot.
BG is getting ready in this crazy LSD cowboy suit as Jesus and Quinn shows up asking whats going on, some toady Com Central guy mouths off at him and they begin brawling. Later, one of the improve actors who does not know how to drive gets in a car to pull up to the apartment for the opening shot and RUNS OVER PETER GALLAGHER. Now, this is crazy enough, but lunatic director guy decides they need to save the shoot in the 7 mins before the ambulance arrives and tries to position broken leg Jesus on a blanket so it looks like some street picnic, and guy who cant drive is to ride up on a bicycle. Well, in the last moment of WTF
the prop guy screwed up and grabbed the wrong bike, which he accidentally stole from an enraged Pizza Boy who attacks.
Now i await next week, and ponder, is there ANY fucking way this can be real? |
