This time the date is fixed and Whiskey Priestess will be reading a story of mine at the Poetry Cafe in Betterton Street, WC2 on Friday, 27 September. Joelle Taylor is headlining. She's a great writer and performer and she's written a piece especially for the evening, which is dedicated to 'slipstream' fiction. I've never had a story read out/performed before, so I'm excited and nervous in equal measure. Would hope to get the details finalised later this week and so maybe a link with the snazzy advert Chol came up with will appear forthwith.

All those identifying as transgenre are most welcome.

Qu'est-ce que c'est transgenre, SFD?

Transgenre - crossing boundaries of fiction, namely science fiction/horror/fantasy. It's a term that's been in use for, oh, around a week, when I made it up. Was hoping it would appeal and raise a smirk.

Ah well.

Well, I liked it. And kind-of got it! I'll come along to hear this - it looks good.

We had a meeting last night and I'm really looking forward to the performance. I'm allowed to choose the music pre-performance, so expect my liking for Coil to be indulged. Start time is 8pm, entrance is £5/£3 concessions.

Dress: Joelle would say, "If you must", but since this is Barbelith, I could suggest people dust off their best fiction suit for the evening....

By the way, there is a bar at the Poetry Cafe.

Well done! I can't be there, but expect some kind of good vibey things to be floating around the space, anyway!

Seems that when you visit Cholisters page you are rewarded with a pop-up that enquires if there is porn on your computer which may be another reason to attend.

Christ. It's frigging Geocities, ok? I don't believe I can do anything about the pop-up. I also can't post the picture straight to Barbelith, or I would. And I don't have any personal webspace. So-orry for the inconvenience.

I'm really sorry I can't make it. Next time, for sure.

pointless and uncalled for

Cholister, you misunderstand. I found the incident funny and compelling and thus called it another reason to attend because being asked if you have porn on your computer should be a reason to attend anything.

My apologies, I didn't mean to infer that this was a bad thing.

I'll be there to beg forgiveness in person if that's OK.

Imply all you like sunshine.

Having just advised sfd to wave her brand spanking new literary publication around like it's the Big Issue at the reading, I would like to remind you all that if this will be a perfect op to BUY one of these delightful items (should she choose to do this).

A couple of people were asking where the Poetry Cafe is, so I'll give one more go at linking a map. If this doesn't work, I'll put it up again as a cut and paste job.

Last bump for this. Apparently the acetate flyers have been incredibly popular, with even bookshop staff using them as book marks. Which is nicer than the use First Out cafe found for them - so good to have members of our close-knit gay community chucking them in the bin!

Hope to see a few of you there.
