This is entirely self-serving, because I'm freaked out by it and needed to tell someone. sfd's ill and on her own apart from cats. I thought I'd post here so that when she is all better (or when she crawls out of bed and over to the computer briefly), she can see that people care.

(She'll hate me for this, incidentally).

Well, cats can be a comfort in times of illness - like a hot-water bottle that you don't have to get up to refill...

... but, yes, get well soon.

Nothing serious, it is to be hoped. And cats can be marvellous therapy, yes. Get well soon, anyway, sfd. Come back and shout at someone.

Y'know, this isn't exactly the most "self-serving" thing I've ever seen...

From all at WERTRE TEAM bungalows:

"Get well soon, SFD! You are our Mum!"

You hear that SFD? They think yr their Mum - you've gotta get well!

Get well sfd, the nation needs you!

Kit-Cat-Club:
"cats can be a comfort in times of illness - like a hot-water bottle that you don't have to get up to refill"

Not true - if you don't refill your cat with meaty chunkles it will get smaller and smaller and one day you'll come home to find it stiff as a board, flat on its back with it's legs in the air.

Then it makes an ace doorstop.

Yes, SFD, I second that emotion. Get some SMASH! happening there. Only not to Cholister, 'cos ze's making sure you get the huggles from here that you need.

Get rockin' soon.

Oh my Goddess! What lovely, lovely people you are [sniff].

I've been nearly passing out again today. The cats are no good at all - one keeps batting my face when i zonk out, the others are asleep and oblivious. I don't think I took too many painkillers this time but I can't remember - I'm finding out just how being deaf is affecting everything else I do. Perhaps I should buy some Lemsip, being as it sorts the butches from the femmes (or something like that). The good news is that I might be able to hear before Sunday. Because I feel like coming along to the meet and hugging everyone. You have been warned!

Good to see some sign of you, sfd. I hope the deafness leaves you soon and you're feeling a whole lot better.

take care sfd, if you're stil deaf by the meet you can always go the 'aged relative' route, fix yourself up with an ear trumpet and comfy chair, and get teh whippersnappers running up and down to the bar for you... hope you feel better soon... hugs...

Where are the shamans in the house? Someone do something!

Here, please take this virtual Lemsip with my regards. Pour it over cats to distract them and continue convalescence. My over-enunciated commiserations to you.

Wish you better, sfd. Look after yourself, eh?

*tunes into Cat Frequency* (Oi! Cats! That's right, you furry little tykes-- I'm onto you. I know you're listening. Do your mystic cat stuff or so help me, I'll tell the rest of humanity what you really chew grass for. Oh, yes. And I'll show everyone... the blueprints. Don't think I won't do it.)

Hmmmm....I find it kinda worrying that SFD has fallen into a deathly illness just after reading the manuscript of my new book....

Getwellsoon and all that SFD. I'm sure the cats can use their mojo if you explain that if you're ill you can't buy food for them or operate can openers, that should get their attention.

Huggles and stuff, sfd... the cats may not be helping that much, but I'm sure they mean well, and that's gotta count!

If they mean well, they can help. They've got an entire species trained, not just to manipulate tin-openers, but to devise a whole butchering, canning, and tin-opener-manufacturing industry. Why didn't we invent the tin-opener till several decades after the tin? Because the cat in charge had a nap, that's why.

I can hear! I can hear! The nice nurse lady blasted my ears for ages last night and my stomach cramps are easing. So please don't shout at me tomorrow at the meet.

And I'm truly touched at the nice messages. Thank you! I have got some perspective on my own illness - which was yukky but always going to be temporary - in that an aunt is dying. At least now I am capable of driving my parents, should there be a funeral in the near future.
