quote:As anthrax continues to turn up in US postal facilities, and postal workers, evidence is emerging that it is an American product. Not only are the bacteria genetically close to the strain the US used in its own anthrax weapons in the 1960s, but New Scientist can reveal that the spores also seem to have been prepared according to the secret US "weaponisation" recipe.
This is troubling, say bioterrorism specialists. While the terrorists behind the anthrax-laced mail US might have got hold of the strain of anthrax in several laboratories around the world, the method the US developed for turning a wet bacterial culture into a dangerous, dry powder is a closely-guarded secret.
Its apparent use in the current spate of attacks could mean the secret is out. An alternative is that someone is using anthrax produced by the old US biological weapons programme that ended in 1969 - in which case the scope for further attacks could be limited. Experiments to determine which is true are underway now in the US.
This was written on the 29th of October. There have been new anthrax attacks. It seems more likely that it's the U.S. military's anthrax than naything else.
Hell for all we know it might be the U.S. military who's sending out the anthrax.
Hell, let's say that an investigator stumbled upon this and was blackmailed into resigning. That would be ver interesting.
Oh, wait. It already happened.

quote:The FBI has not been spared in the shakeup. Its top deputy director, Thomas Pickard, 50, unexpectedly announced his retirement recently, citing family reasons. Pickard was point man for the FBI terror and anthrax probes.
Anybody who has been following politics knows that when an official is resigning because of "family reasons" it means that either that he is being blackmailed or doesn't want information about something to come out.
According to the above article, John Ashcroft has changed the role of the FBI from a law-enforcement agency to an anti-terrorist agency. That's right.
quote:In a matter of weeks, Ashcroft has achieved a policy transformation unlike any in decades — partly with congressional approval and partly by Ashcroft's or the President's order.
But Ashcroft hasn't stopped there. He has announced a "wartime reorganization" inside the Justice Department and FBI. Fighting terrorism has become the FBI's new "core mission," leaving local cops on their own to fight organized crime, solve bank robberies and track down drug traffickers.
Why is the media being quite critical of the government?
Simple.
If you've been paying attention to the news before September 11th, the U.S. government started jailing reporters for what they write. There was an article on this in Newsweek a week or two before September 11th.
Oh, and why should you care?
Simple. Because of the following...
http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=93086&group=webcast
This is an indymedia article analyzing the PATRIOT Act.
quote:Section 802 of HR 3162 defines domestic terrorism as "activities that - involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States:... and "appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;" or "to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion;"...
Under this definition the blocking of a driveway at a federal building or defending yourself when attacked by good "Germans" at a protest march - while protesting these violations of the Constitution - could instantly make you a "domestic terrorist" and subject to some of the stiffest penalties ever enacted into law.
Oh, and there's one lead I'll be checking out. You should followi t to, see if it's true and where it leads.
Supposedly all the people who got the anthrax letters were democrats. Now, I don't like both the democrats and the republicans but if this is true it'll provide more information on the case. |
