We've done this before, but the previous thread was on an earlier version of the board and has disappeared. It was, IIRC, Rizla's idea.

And it's a good 'un. The game is this: choose a book, film or record that you enjoy and write a negative review of it. The style of the review is up to you; scathing, disgutedly outraged, illiterate, whatever takes your fancy. Once your review is done and dusted, submit it to Amazon and see if you can get it published.

I got one up last time around (it's here), but only just remembered the whole thing. Since posting it, "0 out of 5 people found this review helpful."

I just wrote two reviews as an older woman named Thea. Thea Plepicker--I'm not sure how unconvincing that last name is. If anyone asks, my middle name is Penelope.

Hopefully they'll put them up soon.

Christ, Randy - that Dick review is fucking hilarious!

I'll try my hand at this sometime soon.

It might be a good idea to learn from the master before jumping into it...

Might be interesting to pick a specific book or author to target for this outing....

People actually like that "Left Behind" stuff?

Don't you think Amazon might get a bit suspicious if, in the matter of a few days, a bunch of negative reviews for one particular book were submitted?

They place very high in the best seller lists, yes. And of course Amazon will get suspicious and eventually pull them, but I see that the point of the excercise being to see just how far you can run with it, much like the Dysfunctional Family Circus reviews. Really not so much negative reviews, as bizzare ones.
