Has anyone seen the latest New Scientist? It's not up on-line unfortunately, but there's an article positing that we really are living in a futureworld computer simulation of 'present times', the guy claims that is' just as possible as 'really' living here now. Then disagrees with someone else (of course), about whether this is good or bad and survival techniques if he's right (he says basically, go on as you were, another guy says we should pretend to be ignorant so the universal Sys-Op doesn't delete us).
If someone would be evil enough to stick up the article, or post the link I noticed at the end of the article but foolishly forgot to take note of, I think that would help.
Other than give those two teenagers more ammunition for their bizarre spamming, what do people think of this? Do we need to employ Occam's razor here? And in the two opposing viewpoints which i hope I've managed to accurately summarise, are we not seeing the classical science='knowledge' vs. religion='ignorance' argument? |
