drzener,
Nope your situation isn't unusual at all, and I'm willing to bet that your email address is stored in his address book, or vice-versa.
Its almost certainly the work of a Kak-Worm or one of its variants. The worm goes through your addresses, sending out random mails to random recipients. Some variants bounce an incoming mail to you to one of your address book listings.
I've never used Norton, but Naked Flame has put up a link to AVG - an incredibly powerful (and free) virus checker - so you may want to download a copy of that onto your system.
Oh, an incidentally, never ever ever ever ever ever ever use Outlook or Outlook Express. They are very badly coded and full of more holes than swiss cheese (so much so that the Kak-Worm viruses were even designed to use Outlook to spread themselves). I suspect the email designed for you which ended up in your brother's account was sent out by a machine running Outlook, so - if you know the person in question - you may want to send a polite email advising them to check their system. |
