MIT demonstration of virtual forms placed in a video feed of real space. Requires quicktime and unless you have broadband (the video feed is about 16mb of space), you'll be waiting a while.
Basically, there's a demo of this using a graphics tablet that shows the current image behind it. Then using a pen (stylus) the person creates a few 3d forms super-imposed in the video. Then by moving the tablet around, the forms and video move together. Kind of like a virtual camera but in a "real" space. Kind of cool...
Seems that there's some interesting territory that'll be covered, as virtual forms begin to inhabit and interact with "real" space. Curious to see where this tech will find itself in the next few years... |
