I saw this film the other day and its a lot of fun. A bit like Mamet in that it is about a couple of con artists and an elaborate con. Not quite as punchy as mamet, but well worth a look.

Now feel free to talk about the film....

Damn, beat me to it. I has the good fortune of seeing Nine Queens previewed months ago, and all I can say is GO SEE IT SEE IT IF YOU DON'T YOU'RE A FOOL. It's easily one of the best films I've seen this year, it's written and directed with genuine flair, it's like a funnier Mamet meets Amores Perros, it's just as good as cinema gets.

Unfortunately I cannot reveal *anything* about the film's plot, unless we have another thread with the word 'spoilers' in huge flashing lights at the top... It's about a couple of con-men, and some stamps. That's all.

Is that prominent enough?

I really loved the way you knew the whole thing was a set up and you kept on wondering how Marcos was going to get Jaun's money. It all seemed too obvious and I was waiting for the switch. It was pretty cool to find out that the whole thing was set up from the other direction. Excellent.

- Pacha, here -

And the actors are so perfect! One with the more innocent face, and the other with his mustache that makes you think "well, he's obviously the main conman, there". Perrrfect.

The other thing I liked about it was the dinamism not usually seen in Latin American films - which was, at least to me, a good surprise (although I've heard that "Amores Perros" is quite fast and furious, but haven't seen it yet).
