1553 15-year-old Lady Jane Grey deposed as England's Queen after 9 days
1692 Five Salem witches are hanged for the crime of witchcraft, based primarily on the accusations of little girls who were bewitched. Eventually, 20 witches are executed in the small town.
1937 - The Nazis open Entartete Kunst, their Degenerate Art Exhibition, in Munich. Modern art was put up to ridicule, carefully arranged by the concepts with which the works were deemed offensive. Youth was not admitted, lest they be tainted.
