I'm a dancing bear. No really.

Went out for dinner this evening, with one of my best friends from university (back in the dim & distant past), cos her brother was over from Texas. So she invited a bunch of us out for dinner. So far, so good.

Trouble is, I get the feeling (not for the first time) that I'm a "comedy" friend. In the sense of "see (my real name here), he's a pisshead. Funny, no?"

Don't get me wrong- this friend of mine IS a very good friend. And when the shit's hit the fan in the past, she's been the first one on the scene to help me out.

BUT... I keep feeling like I'm the butt of someone else's joke. Not that I mind, really, but it seems kind of a bad thing to be.

Not really expecting too many responses here... just needed to say it. Feel much better now, and will be posting dumb pointless shit from now until I fall asleep. Even us dancing bears have to have a laugh every now and then.

I know exactly how you feel. Although my Barbe-suit may rarely reflect it, I am apparently a "hoot" IRL. I'm a goofy bastard an awful lot of the time, and there are often peals of laughter left in my wake. For some reason, though, some take this as an indication that I'm lacking in self-respect. And so they then choose to disrespect me in kind. Probably not quite getting across what I'm talking about here. Regardless. It's nice to be able to make people laugh, so long as it's not at my expense. Got me?

Got you, Deric. Thank you. As long as it's not just me, then!
