Seeing Things. And then crying. But in a good way.

This should quite possibly be either in Books or Film/TV. But I wasn't sure, so I thought "here we go".

I just had a lovely afternoon. Part of which involved finding Oliver Postgate's autobiography, "Seeing Things", in a local 2nd hand bookshop. And being given 10p off the price (cos I was short of money.)

It has a free CD-Rom with it. Which has Bagpuss stuff on it (oh yes, and the Clangers, Noggin the Nog, and the whole cool crew).

It has bits from "The Mill", and "The Ballet Shoe".

It's quite possibly the best thing I've ever used my computer for.

Just thought I'd share that. (By the way, if anyone wants a copy, they've got two left in a place in Stokey... I'll buy 'em and mail 'em to you, if you're interested. £4.95. Book PLUS CD-Rom.)

4.95!!! christ on a tricycle - i paid more an' double that for my copy (which i gave to my sister for her birthday). it's a wierd/heavy read, she reckons. stoatie - what do you think of the pingwings excerpt? it never made it to tv, but the clip i saw looked great. and (i should put this in the meeting celebraties thread but it's really relevant here) sis went to a talk by postgate and actually got to handle the original bagpuss.

and the 'hamish' episode has always been my favourite - got em all on video, right here....

er, just to bring things back down to earth again: sis said bagpuss was smelly. really smelly. like he needed a good going over in a washing machine. i'm still jealous, though.

And baggy. And a bit loose at the seams.

But Emily loved him.

I bet if I ever met Emily, we'd have an enormous fight about who loved Bagpuss the most.
