Right. Irrational, over-the-top stress. Anyway. To get to The Boredoms on Wedneday, I had to swap a couple of shifts with a guy I don't really know who works in the soul-crushing supermarket I do. When I asked him, he told me he'd deffinatly be able to do them, and this was a week and a half ago.
Only today have I been told that he can't work them, because his other job wants him then, and he had the fucking audacity to tell me to phone work because they wanted to talk to me, without telling me what about (I got it out of him, but I'm still fucking pissed he didn't have the fucking decency to tell me in the first place. And does it show I think he's a bit of a gimp anyway?).
And judging by the tones of voice of the people I've been dealing with, it sounds like people have been told that I'm forcing this guy to work the shifts, when I've spent this last two weeks paying £10 for the ticket and making plans and generally assuming that there isn't a problem.
I pretty much figure I'm not gonna be able to get cover, because the few people I know on the tills there are all working that nite, and my managers have made it pretty clear thru implicature that I don't want me to get time off (how fucking terse and unhelpful can one group of people be?!), but I wanna know just why the shifts are my responsibility all over again, simply because a guy lied to me about being able to work them when he couldn't- why aren't they his?
And who can I kick 'til they refund me and promise not to do it again? |
