Corporate Research?

Maybe some of you fine folks can point me in the right direction. I'm an employee of a labor union, and I need to do some down-and-dirty research on the CEO of a privately owned Newspaper company. I want to find his business history, financial records, etc. I need stuff that's better (and dirtier) than what can be found on Google or Altavista, but can't spend hundreds of dollars for LexisNexis, etc.

Any suggestions?

Don't know if you're in the UK or not, but this article in the Sunday Times last weekend might be interesting. (username=sashablog, password=sashablog). Some of the paid-for stuff is relatively cheap, so it depends how much you might want to know. There was also an article in the Economist, xmas time about two years ago about how you can call up and blag information off of people. I guess you could try that too. You might also want to try www.hoovers.com/.co.uk.

Google directory has a good list of resources. Hoovers is definitely the best, although it is always more difficult to find info on privately owned companies.
