I'm a little saddened by the lack of punk on the roster except for bands like the awesome Guyana Punchline and Pg. 99 because this festival started out a little more DIY, but what the hey, Shellac, Melt Banana, Lightning Bolt, Xiu Xiu, Converge, Party Of helicopters... Wow. Now who the hell is going?

Where in the name of all that's holy is this taking place? It sounds completely awesome, but I'm completely broke. And I'm almost completely sure that it's too far away for me.

But as a consolation, I'm going to get to see Shellac, at least, when they come to Bloomington a week from today. Rawk out.

Shit, Columbus OH isn't THAT far away. Hmm. Could just sleep in my car. Hmm. Shit, close enough to tempt, far enough to be a pain.

fuck, anyone between here and DC feel like going?

THE band to catch on that bill is The Walkmen. They are going to blow every single act there off the stage, no question about it. If you can see them, do yrself a favor and go. I'm sure Ian Svenonius' new band will be great, too.

On the AMG websites review of the Walkmen's debut LP they mention Paul Pope in context to the atmosphere they invoke. Pope is taking over the planet with his too cool for school comic books. That's interesting.

Make sure to catch Erase Errata - they're fantastic .. in a "riot grrl Big Black perform the hits of Captain Beefheart" kind of way..

And I'm absolutely drooling over the Lightning Bolt tracks I've recorded off the radio, but I can't find their record (or indeed, any of the other fine things on Load records) in this country..

It's strange that the festival is called anything other than the "Troubleman fest" given the line-up...

Anyway, Rizla you maybe should just order your Lightning Bolt records directly from their label.

I can't say I'm much of a fan of a lot of the bands on this bill, it's mostly the kind of stuff that does very little for me, a lot of bands that I think place process way above craft...

Riz, if Load won't ship outside the states, I'll send the friggin' Lighning Bolt records to you. Ride The Skies is just too good not to have. And their DVD is supposed to be out this week. Drool...

I don't want to order the records direct from the US, because then I have to pay obscene amounts of tax on them.. It looks like Load don't have a distributor in this country or something though..

(If you really want to send me the Lightning Bolt album, I'd be totally grateful..)
