The Comics Journal doesn't really take unsolisted reviews. They SAY they do, but most of the reviews are written either by staff or people who work elsewhere in Fantagraphics. The best thing for your friend to do is to send his copies to the people who either have reviews in recent issues, or columists.

thank you for that tip. yes, he has sent a copy to them for review (and has an ad for Chloe in the upcoming issue) but hadn't heard back from them. he has drawn a cover for and has a feature interview in The Comics Interpreter though I don't know when that issue will come out.

I sent TCJ some stuff for review a month or so ago. No response. I assume it is because I suck.

Of course, other than the news column, I read less and less of TCJ each month. I also can't remember the last time I bought a fantagraphics comic so I guess we are even.
