OK, I admit it. I use Outlook Express and I read newsgroups. I see other people who have personalized how their replies start off (like in the Iron Chef group, one says "If Memory Serves Me Correctly, said..."

Anyone know how to do that? The MSN tech support person was clueless.

They probably don't use Outlook Express. I know how to do it with Mozilla and sylpheed, if that's any help, which it isn't.

If you can do it easily from menus, it'll be in Tools | Options | Send | Mail/News | Plain Text | Settings I should think... but it may require you to fuck with your registry.

A bit of a google got me this program here that allows you to screw with these things - I think that might be what you want.

I assume you can make signature files for your posts/e-mail in Outlook Express (I know you can in Navigator). Basically, create a signature file so it writes in the post/e-mail field and then type your text below it. This is from OE help:

About signatures

You can use signatures to automatically insert text in the messages you send. For example, you can create a signature for business e-mail that includes your name, job title, and phone number. Or, you can create a signature for personal e-mail that includes only your name. A signature can also include text other than your name; for example, you can include a quotation, your company's slogan, or boilerplate legal text.

In Microsoft Outlook Express, you can create as many signatures as you like. Then, you can either choose which signature to insert in an individual message, or choose a default signature to insert in all of the messages you send from a specific mail account. You can also add a signature to your random list. When you choose "random" instead of a specific signature, Outlook Express inserts a signature from your list at random.
