This is a bit of a techie request.
Basically I am looking for a freeware/shareware or cheap midi sequencing program for PC. It has to support bank and program changes as well as some sort of note editing. I've used Cubase and its perfect but it costs more than I can afford at the moment.
I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

Here's the dmoz directory listing for computers and midi and stuff. I don't know if it'll be any help to you, but there are lots of sites with downloadable freeware/free demos, etc.

Cheers for that. I'm in the middle of downloading a whole shitload of stuff but I'm not looking forward to testing it out so if any body else has tried and tested sequencers I'd like to hear from them.
By the way Mordant, I heard about this infamous laser harp of yours, have you ever thought about sticking a midi interface into it? That'd be great.

I write a lot of music in MIDI, and so heartily recommend MED Soundstudio, written by the same guy that did OctaMed - for those who remember - for the Amiga. It not only supports *.med, but will happily convert all your Cubase, Fasttracker, Soundtracker, or Midi music without any hassle, regardless of the program or platform they were written on (I found it loaded up my old Amiga mods, instruments and all, with no trouble). It supports bank changes and it more than happy to run via a conventional keyboard.
The program is a 40 day trial, but - if you're that way inclined - there are plenty of small patches available on the web which can remove the registration part, although as the original only costs a small amount it really is worth it.

drzener: that's the plan- I have a PIC microcontroller which can and will be programmed to translate the binary data from the decoder circuitry into MIDI data. My creature will LIVE!!!
