Since there's little by way of prize, it's really more of an exercise, but could be fun. The art will probably be keen, too....

CONTEST!!!

My good pals over at BLAMBOT fonts, Nate Piekos
and Shane Clarke, have put together a SUPERNATURAL
CRIME writing contest! I'm printing the rules
below, but to enter, you have to go over to
http://www.blambot.com and register on the
Blambot Nexus bulletin board. It's free, easy, and it's
a great community, even if you don't want to
enter the contest. (But of course, you do...) Oh
yeah, Nate's fonts are really effin cool, too!

Blambot Contest #3
Did you know our very own Crimeboss (aka
Christopher Mills) was a professional comic book editor
for several companies? Well you better know,
because now he's YOUR BOSS!

Due to the amazing world wide popularity of Femme
Noir and Brother Grim, raving fans across the
globe have demanded a crossover story with these two
characters! Editor in Chief, Crimeboss, needs you
to submit a script for this incredible
one-shot.... yesterday. (Isn't it funny how Editors in
Chief always want material yesterday?)

The rules & guidelines:
#1 - You must be a registered Blambot Nexus
member.

#2 - You are only allowed one (1) entry to be
judged. You can replace an entry prior to judging if
you feel you've created something better than
your prior entry.

#3 - Judging will take place by Crimeboss & The
Moll.

#4 - "There can be only one" ... winner that is.
(Couldn't help it with the Highlander quote)

#5 - Submitted entry MUST be in .txt format,
since it's a pretty universal document format.

#6 - Deadline is July 21, 2002. Anything emailed
after will not be counted.

#7 - Email all entries to: sac@foolarchy.com

#8 - Blambot employees, Crimeboss and The Moll
cannot enter this contest

#9 - Your script must be submitted utilizing the
following format: HERE!

#10 - Do not post your entry on the Message
Boards. We want to keep it away from the eyes of the
judges and fellow competitors.

#11 - GUIDELINE - You need to write two (2)
consecutive pages of the Femme Noir/Brother Grim
Crossover. Remember this is a web comic, not a normal
comic book made from paper. You have much smaller
space to work with, so you'll need to have your
creative juices flowing! The two (2) pages do not
need to be the first and second page; they just
simply need to be two consecutive pages.

#12 - GUIDELINE - There must be dialogue, both
main characters must appear, and it shouldn't just
be a two-page fight scene. Any established (on
the site) SUPERNATURAL CRIME characters can be
used, but *only* established SUPERNATURAL CRIME
characters.

#13 - The judges will be looking for
characterization, story (you ought to at least be able to get
across the general thrust of it in these two
pages), originality, and how well the writer captures
that distinct, (gun)smoky SUPERNATURAL CRIME
flavor.

#14 - Pay attention to your Grammar and
Punctuation... we hear The Moll is a stickler for proper
spelling!

#15 - For examples and more importantly,
research, the following URLs contain your resource
material:

http://www.supernaturalcrime.com/bg_home.html

http://www.supernaturalcrime.com/fn_home.html

#16 - The Booty: a signed copy of Shadow House #1
featuring Christopher Mills' Nightmark character,
a FEMME NOIR print signed Christopher Mills 'n
Joe Staton, and, at least one page of the winning
script will be drawn by a "Supernatural Crime
artist" and posted on the Supernatural Crime site.

#17 - IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Brother Grim, Femme
Noir, and Supernatural Crime are trademarks of and
the intellectual property of Christopher Mills.
You will not be getting paid for this (because
we're poor bastards as it is.) nor will your entry
be used in actual Femme Noir/Brother Grim
storylines. This is simply a writing exercise utilizing
two established web comic strips.

#18 - Rules are subject to change with a whim to
fix mistakes or make unforseen plot complications
less complicated.
