Maybe I just like watching others be punished (Court on TV)

While I'm not a regular watcher, I can't help but stop when I'm channel surfing if Judge Judy or Judge Joe Brown are on. Perhaps I like watching other people be punished, or maybe I get a sick fascination of watching someone have that kind of power over others. There are others that I have yet to see, particularly "Texas Justice."

I'm curious as to how the non-Americans feel about such shows, I honestly don't know if they even exist overseas, so I indulge myself and ask. What do others think of court television? Why do those who like it do?

Ganesh is a big Judge Judy fan and not without reason. I have particularly enjoyed a couple of recent (over her) shows where she has dealt with warring queer couples who went down the faux marriage route and then got upset when the ex-partnter claimed half the toaster.

But if you want to really enjoy watching people people suffer their punishment, merited or otherwise, we have a fab show in the UK called "Lads' Army" where thirty ordinary-ish modern chaps are put through three months' basic inductioon into 1950's style National Service with the British Army. It's gruesome, it's appalling, it's a sadomasochistic treat on tv. With buzz cuts and erections. Mmmmm...
