Your Air Conditioning, or How Chilly Do You Like It?

Partially a curiousity question, partially for information. When you have your druthers, how cold do you like the AC to be turned to?

Also, can someone give me a good setting for a farenheit thermostat, as mine doesn't seem to want to be in celcius. And what's a normal room temperature, would you say?

Zoom.

Pah, farenheit is for losers. Insist on having the A/C dial changed to centigrade. Or, even better, kelvin for the full SI experience.

I generally find if I set it to the opposite of what it is in the office, that's comfortable.

Standard room temp is 68 fahrenheit--that's about 15 C, if I've got my math right.

"Druthers" I am liking very much, though understanding not.

Does it have something to do with heat, or with wits, or is it a euphemism for something unpleasant? It's chiming with the word "udders" in my head which is conjuring the strangest picture what happens to a Zoom when it melts.

Druthers = A preference.

Apparently a contraction/corruption of "would rathers."

Thanks, Sir Jack. A North American usage, I presume.

Guess I'll just have to take one of my old Zoom fantasies out and polish it up a bit, instead of the udder-melt one I was conjuring up.

The fact that you have old Zoom fantasies to replace your new ones is terribly flattering......and a little scary.

My mother uses "druthers" - and I don't think she picked it up on this continent. I think it's more a time thing than a space thing. Just fallen out of favor.

I live in Florida in an old house with no air conditioning. People call me foolish, but they are the fools. Ceiling fans and lots of ventilation is the key. Air conditioners are killing us all. My preferred temperature is on the porch, the hour before sunset after a rainstorm on a hot summer day. Probably in the mid-70s.

68 degrees Farenheit is equal to 20 degrees Celcius. Or so says this temperature converter.

Being the stubborn, cheap bastard that I am, I never use the A/C. If need be, I strip down to my boxers--sometimes not even that. You can say that has no class if you want to, but I like having a free-range cock.
