Help me pop Kevin Smith's Ego!

So I just read the preview for the latest Kevin Smith vehicle and I really wonder who wrote that blurb.

Whose idea was it to call Kevin Smith “the King of All Comics?” Whoever it was, he sure didn’t read any of Green Arrow.

Kevin Smith can make a damn fine movie, but he really should leave the comic book writing to the professionals.

I’m just miffed and ranting.

Really? Wow. I hope he gets around to it some day. I'd like to see it.

Kevin Smith should do whatever work he wants to do.

Maybe it would be a better world if blurbs said things like:

The scoop: Somewhat decent writer (at least, pretty darned successful by comics standards) takes the reigns of a comic with a spotty record, SPIDERMAN.

The story: The mysterious disappearance (well, to some fans, anyway, but I can't speak for everyone) of an old friend brings Felicia Hardy to the Big Apple in search of answers. A certain ex-lover is following the same trail, so we hope you all think about sex a lot in this issue because we know that sells pretty well.

The buzz:
Smith did wonders for Green Arrow's sales, so we at Marvel hope he makes some extra cash for us, too.

It might be a better world, but I can't really blame an ad for not using the 100%-honesty strategy.

Kevin Smith is cool. Green Arrow wasn't my cuppa, but his run on Daredevil rocks the boat.

Only Jack Kirby is the King of all comics.

AND MARVEL SHOULD FUCKING KNOW THAT.

Thank you.

Shut up. He's an Invisible! You're going against your own kind!

I, personally, can't stand that mother fucker. Inside joke trotting poomer. Calling him the king of comic books is comical.

Well PR flatuence aside, I gotta say I think Kevin Smith is an excellent comics writer.

Come on, he had a villian called Onomatopoeia for god's sake! That's funny stuff....

Um... Jesse? You might wantr to re-examine these statements...

Whose idea was it to call Kevin Smith “the King of All Comics?” Whoever it was, he sure didn’t read any of Green Arrow.

And yet you did... at least I'm assuming you did... or else how would you know?

Kevin Smith ... really should leave the comic book writing to the professionals.

And yet you read his stuff. You read his stuff, and then complain about it... but still you read it.

What does that say about him as a writer? As a draw? As a name that sells comics? (Because that's what gets a guy proclaimed King: sales.) Does that fact tend to validate or invalidate your opinions?

(For the record, I have only seen one Smith film [DOGMA] and based on that experience doubt I would see another: and I have no idea what kind of a comics writer Kevin Smith is--I've never read a book he's written, and have not the slightest interest in doing so.)

No. That's very shit stuff.

I just found that embarrassing.

He writes wordy, wordy poo. Histrionic bollocks.

Was enjoying his 1st Daredevil storyline until I realised the whole, hugely convoluted, thing was set up just so that he could kill Mysterio - the WHOLE plotline! Which is A: just self-evidently crap and B: sod off, I love Mysterio!

Now, isn't it time someone got all David Lynch with that goldfish bowl wearing mutha....

I like to think of Kevin Smith's comics as being the less-ambitious, scattological little brother of Chris Claremont's output since the late 80s...

I read several issues of Green Arrow, hoping it would get better. It never did.

Any comic writer who makes Batman say "snow down your osh-koshes" needs to reevaluate their career path.

I should mention that I am the only opinion that matters, of course, and that comic book companies are beating down my door for my thoughts. Anyone who disagrees with me is flat-out wrong.

Quite liked his Daredevil, Green Arrow didn't have quite as much "oompf", the Clerks stuff was really funny, the Bluntman and Chronic was a little much.

I'll buy his stuff till I stop liking it, then I'll stop.

Zoom.

I would be willing to call Clerks a damn fine movie. Nothing else he's done, naturally, but Clerks was a good movie.

Personally, I prefer Mallrats. It's not his best movie, but it's the one that makes me laugh the most. Also, the Clerks cartoon is much better than one would think.
