I thought one or two of you might be interested in my latest toy. For the last few months I've been keeping my eye out for webzines and other publications that accept online submissions. I've been trying to collate them into some sort of useable form, and I hit upon the idea of sticking the whole list online, courtesy of Blogger (partly so that other people can use it, and partly because I'm sick of wading through a foot-long list of bookmarks).

It's a bit sparse at the mo., but I'll be adding to it regularly (and hopefully knocking it into some sort of shape, too.) It'll probably lean heavily sf/f/h-wards because I'm a total fatbeard, but other genres will certainly be included.

If anyone wants to have a butcher's, it's here: The Exchange. If you know of a 'zine you think should be up there, feel free to let me know.

The Outer Rim Magazine accepts submissions. It's sci-fi/fantasy based. They don't pay though.

Thanks, dude. I'm not really bothered about whether a 'zine pays or not (tho' I'll prolly start flagging the paying zines in the description).

If there's enough interest, I may extend the blog to include an art section for 'zines that want pix... hmm.

Carve magazine, at www.carvezine.com, publishes some decent short stories. Heck, they'll publish mine so I have to promote them. But they don't pay, and it's not very Barbe/sci fi/slash oriented, so it may not be what you're after, Mordant.

pay? you mean some people get *paid* when they have stories published....?

thanks for the link, mc. once i've got my short story collection published (just a casual plug) i'll be on the lookout for more mags to send stories to. perhaps online mags will be easier to go for, in a way - many paper magazines demand that you subscribe to them before they'll even look at your work. bloody ridiculous.

congrats on getting a story accepted, btw. i assume you'll be letting us know when its online?

sfd: I think the main zine is subscription only, but if they put it on their public site I'll give you guys the link. (It's pretty poor stuff really, just an atmosphere peice for a vampire fanzine, so don't expect too much.)

Ariadne: That's great! I'm not really that bothered about genre, just whether the zine is currently taking submissions.
