...That film where there are 3 kids and they make a space ship out of a dodgems car, and a little computer one of the kids makes. They go to some space ship and meet a friendly green alien with a big belly, and funny ears. When they get home the space ship lands in a pond. Thats all I can remember. What the fuck was it called?

That's the exact same question I asked a couple of months ago.

I hated it when I saw it as a kid .. it didn't seem to have any structure, it was just a big parade of slightly scary madness..

..hense why it sounds so good now, I suppose.

Great flick. Loved it dearly when I was younger, seemed to be on TV a lot.

Yeah, cool film but a really crap name for a spacecraft, 'Thunder Road' lame, thought so at the time and I think time has proved me right .

This film was superb. I'm glad it still gets the credit it 'deserves'.

I really love that flick. It only loses it a LITTLE when it gets into space, but it's just so INVENTIVE and FUN and it, remarkably, doesn't really pander to its audience; when I was younger, I didn't feel it talked down to me, and I remember watching it recently and it held up well. It's great, anyhow. And I really liked that whole kids-taking-dad's-car-for-a-joyride thing. Yes. Good film.

Lame name for a spaceship though, you're right.
