The Brand Spanking New Weekend Thread!!!

And the reason is that I looked and couldn't find the old one.

It was getting a bit unweildy anyway.

What're you doing this weekend, Barbelith?
I, myself, have been invited out for ice cream with some friends tonight, and to a small party tomorrow night. I am hoping for some babysitting for the latter. Anyone wanna volunteer? I can pay you in used books.

Been a busy day here. Sorting and distorting. I think I'm gonna knock it in the head now and read a bit. Wait for the inevitable 5 to 7 rush where people come in, slowly look around and maybe, if I'm lucky, buy something by about 7:15. For those who don't know, I close at 7.

Garage sailing tomorrow morning and looking at it it looks like a pretty full weekend. Though the original purpose of the old thread was to moan and wail about boredom on the weekend. What has this odd little topic mutated into?

Zoom.

I found the old thread

Here it lies

No need to thank me. I was voted most likely to be helpful in high school

I really don't know what I'm doing this weekend. I may go outside and do some work . Ick.

Babysitting? Used books for pay? Dude, I am so there.

I may actually gather the materials for my little odin/well of knowledge divinatory ritual. Probably not though. I'm having a bitch of a time finding an eyepatch and nontoxic clay.

As for the mutation of this thread? I don't know. Think of it as a stream of conciousness thing.

After working the short shift this afternoon over at Der Coffee Haus, I'm currently taking a break from emergency apartment cleaning by eating leftover homemade chicken quesadillas for dinner while watching The Simpsons. (Emergency cleaning made possible by last minute parental visit tomorrow.) Then I have to feed Grendix's cats while she's out of town, then I must go back and finish the last room in my apartment-- bedroom. Then I shower and go meet Spike at the Gravity Pub around ten. But honestly, I'm really really tired. The ten o'clock rendezvous just sounds exhausting at the moment.

Tomorrow: family time.

My stepson just came home after a few days at Disney with grandma, aunt & cousins. The moment I greeted him, he was wielding a sword and wearing a skull&crossbones hat. Arr!
Tomorrow: Attack of the Clones & the beach... if I can finish this fucking freelance story on pedophile priests tonight. I'll likely be up til five or so.

Tonight I saw the Bacchae with a friend of mine who gave me a bunch of T-shirts he no longer had any use for, which was cool (and the play was awesome too). Now I'm at work and very tired. Tomorrow morning I have sorting out stuff to do at my house cos someone's moving in. Then sleep. Then work again tomorrow night. Arse.

Tonight I have mostly been staying out of Husb's hair whilst he does techy stuff to some photos that are going on the new website we are designing. I did the whole layout last night, and this is the last piece of the puzzle. It looks cool cool cool. If I do say so myself.

Tomorrow we have Dreamweaver class all day & tomorrow night I saw in the paper that Donnie Darko is at the Gene Siskel Film Center & since everyone here says that's so good, we're going to see that.

Then another Sunday building chariots.

Chariots?

I also feel, in the interests of fairness, that I should mention the stepson I referenced previously also has several elements of a ninja costume strewn about his room. Some, he uses as pyjama parts.

And for the record, I'm a fifth of the way through the article.

i'm tempted to get a bus down to the city and go for a walk. the streets are pretty much deserted at the weekends. there's an anti war film playing at my local cinema later, too. might go to that. but i have a story at second draft stage and it's a bit scary because i'm not quite sure how i want it to end. should work on it.

mostly i wish there was a car boot sale on.

For the PRIDE parade. We're doing BEN-HER.

Oh sure, everybody loves the *idea* of drag queens chariot-racing, but who is it always that gets stuck in my parents' garage for a month of Sundays wrasslin' with the 3/4" plywood...

We’ll be roasting dead animal flesh on the beautiful shores of Lake Chargoggagaggmanchaugagoggchaunagungamaugg! We’ll be listening to Patti Smith, watching kung fu movies and making s’mores latter in the night. Y’all should stop by!

Tomorrow, I’ll be back at work, followed by heading out to see the Worcester slam team debut.

Right now, I’m at work and my stomach hurts for some unknown reason.

Last night I went to the warp records magic bus night in Dublin. Absolutely fucking brilliant. A few beers, all sorts of wicked boopy bleepy music and a good oul' dance with good company. I am in work now and I'm happy. Later on, video and a bit of chilling out. Sunday I'm going to record music and smoke a load all day. Off work monday as well.
Life has been treating me well recently.

Tonight: a round of Bitch Blanket Bingos at Mary's, local not-as-yet-discovered-by-Midtown-gay-male-crowd bar over in East Atl.

Will think about trying to pull, though I would have to go to another bar for that.

Work yesterday and today...yesterday was actually OK since we had enough staff on duty on a weekend for the first time since I started here...today is sucking pretty hard tho, since I'm the only staff here until 3. Sundays suck like that...I'd be happy if someone came in at 11 just to get the guys off to the beach or the rec center.

Last night I watched Ginger Snaps and had to deal with the fact that my payment for my website wasn't recieved by the site hosting company. Feh.

The excitement just never stops, does it?

Tonight I get to watch Spartacus, which I have never seen. Who wants popcorn?

I made a rune set from clay. I like to make runes. I now have several rune sets all dressed up with nowhere to go. But this rune set I made especially for me.

I didn't think Ginger Snaps managed to really be 'ironic' about the terror of menstrual blood central to so much horror, which is what it was allegedly trying to do...

Especially since Alan Moore did it a LOT better in Swamp Thing. I just saw it as a low budget werewolf movie, much like the long line of low budget vampire movies. Nothing new or unique about it, but the younger sister was a very good actress.

I also though the way the parents were treated was pretty silly and made it feel like this was some teenage girl's version of "I have angst and my parents are obivious."

But a decent little horror flick.

Am I the only one who thinks that it is great that Christopher Lee is becoming the big bad guy in movies again? Now if only Barbara Steele would start shwoing up in movies, I'd be in Monster Boy Geek heaven.

Christopher Lee! He da MAN! I haven't had the heart to find out yet who's replacing him in the "bound to be so shit it's... actually really shit" remake of The Wicker Man...

You're building chariots for drag queens?

Between this and the Queer Granny t-shirts, I'm almost beginning to wish you could be my mother.

LOL..this is just like "You mean he did stuff before Dumbledore?" conversation I had with my cousin... and then I had to go explain Moonlighting and Bruce Willis.... I feel old now.
