I should stay home, right?

I have a slight fever. And I've lost my voice. I can talk a little, but it hurts & I sound like Suzanne Pleshette after a carton of cigarettes.

On the other hand, my bosses are on vacation & I have a mountain of non-taxing menial work that I only have a week to do before they return. It's relaxing to be at the studio, likely all by myself since all the artists are on jobs. Only getting to the studio through this nasty rain makes me shiver...

depends on how sick you think you are, and how well you usually recover. if you are the type who'll bounce back fairly quickly regardless, you should probably go. if you are the type who tends to need some recuperation time or else you get worse or lengthen your recovery time, Id say stay in bed.

or maybe I just like talking

Thanks, bk.

The new title of this thread is, A Day Without Speech. Because I have lost my voice, and I'm all by myself in the studio & I have not uttered one word all day. It's really amazing how quiet it can get, once you stop talking. I don't suppose that I normally go much longer than ten minutes without talking, no wonder I'm exhausted.

I do that in the store sometimes. Turn off the music and all I've got is the hum of the hard drive. I wish I could get away with not talking for days on end, but it's kinda hard.

So you've gone to work. Feeling better? Or just guilty?

Zoom.

Truthfully the only reason I left the house was because I had a DVD due at Blockbuster. Then I thought I would just stop by the studio--ostensibly to pick up two bills I'd forgotten to mail yesterday, but really to check that the artists weren't wondering where the hell I was. Then when I got here, there was no one here & I had done the hard part already --i.e., get out of the house-- so I stayed & did work. Unfortunately since I didn't plan on staying, I didn't bring my lunch... so all I've had for nutrition today is two cans of Coke and some rather aged peanut butter crackers. So I am having a sort of vision quest day.

Yes, hope you feel better soon. Don't stay too long and wear yourself out. I lose my voice at least once a year and it drives me nuts, so you have my sympathy!

When seeking to communicate, jump up and down and point, as you would in a foreign country. Nod and smile. This will garner surprisingly positive results, although shopping for curtains and other interior design items in this way is time-consuming.

I hate losing my voice. Although I quite like the bit where it comes back and I sound like James Earl Jones for a day or two.

I like losing my voice. Its great. It give you a legitimate excuse for not talking to anyONE at all. Then again, being sick and feeling sick really, really sucks ass.

I'm kinda intrigued with the idea of commmunicating without speaking. I just saw "Cockfighter" and throught the movie Warren Oates doesn't say anything or even laugh because he's taken a vow of silence. Kinda interesting to see him get his point across without speaking or even words on paper--usually just gestures. [/non-sequitor]

Hope you're feeling better , Persephone.
