You Write Hot.

I did a short survey on this somewhere else, but I've been convinced to bring it here: Who is a total text god?

This is not about "I like you." You can dislike what the 'Lither has to say, as long as you love the way he says it. This is about style or wit or ability to articulate--anything to do with a 'Lither's writing that gets you literally hot.

So then, who is it for you?

I am textually attracted to Nick and Haus.

I like Haus's writing style...but that Solitaire Rose guy can't write for shit. Let's get him!

Jeez. Everyone knows that Solitaire Rose is a chick. Get a job!

Hmmm, Mordant, Plums, sfd, Haus, Chol, Ganesh, Sleaze and many others that my stoopid sun-fried brain has made me temporarily forgot.

Oh, look. Another thread devoted to Barbelith High School's in-crowd, jam-packed with flattery from those who wish to ingratiate themselves in the hopes of one day attaining the heady powers that accompany the title of Assistant Yes-Man.

"Ha! My popularity dick is bigger than yours! And now I will stick it in your ear, you dumb freshman!"

Could I have a list of the "in-crowd" please? The names keep changing every couple of months and I can't keep up.

Some folks that I find very charismatic and cool by the way that they write include Haus, Flyboy, Your Name Here, Jack Fear, Ierne, Videodrome, Tom Coates, E Randy Dupre, not to mention Moriarty, who I think is one of Barbelith's unsung heroes.

I think Cherry Bomb comes off as very sexy and cool in the way that she writes - she has a very charming way of balancing being very mature and intellectual with a carefree fun party girl vibe.

Suds is pretty similar...I think Autopilot put it best when he said that she's like an enthusiastic and exhuberant teenage girl, and at the same time, that same girl's wise older sister. She writes very clearly, and has a way of articulating passion and intensity of feeling that forces the reader to feel what she feels, or at least relate. I think she writes very persuasively, and I think she has the ability to write very empowering prose. Suds is pretty fucking cool.

I like Traz. Hir righteous anger cuts through the hypocrisy and game-playing, deep to the heart of painful truth.

You know. Just like Judd Nelson in The Breakfast Club.

Hey! It only took six posts before someone mentioned a penis in someone's ear.

And that Solitaire Rose chick has a big ol hooters, doesn't she?

Jack Fear: Nah, Judd lacks the quiet dignity that accompanies my purely intellectual outrage. A better comparison would be the tearful fourteen-year-old who screams at her parents, "You are such total hypocrites! This isn't fair!" and then slams her bedroom door.

Rose: I'm sorry, but I'm utterly unmoved by anything as scatological and uninspired as lewd description of bodily organs. If you could provide a witty satire of Michel Foucault's work, however, my slumbering sex organ may arise for a fully-lubricated homage to your skill with the keyboard and the hot, curvaceous folds of your brain. (God, my inner ear is getting all moist...)

Rage: Okay, I've got Mordant distracted. If I can draw her away from the principal's office, you can stuff the ballot box. And if that doesn't work, we can start a negative ad campaign denouncing her brutal and unrestrained use of sarcasm. Just remember, unlike certain others, I won't forget your support when I'm class president.

I didn't even go to bloody high school. I'm one of the yobs from the technical colledge down the road.

You fear me because I am edgy.

Bah. I'm really disappointed with the direction that this thread has taken. I didn't want this to become a penis-in-ear thread.

I may be an approval-seeking desperado, but that's not what I want this thread to be about. I'm not the Cool of the School, and I don't really want to be.

Why don't you vote for the Most Likelies, though? Sincerely, if you don't react in any special way to the writing style of posters, fine for you. But I, and others, do. If you love the style of some wallflower instead of the football captain, why don't you promote him?

If you love the style of some wallflower instead of the football captain, why don't you promote him?

Because the wallflower is such a nerd . Why would anybody want to promote him. Ewwww! Who would want to associate with him .

You really didn't expect this thread to become anything other than a penis-in-the-ear thread, did you? It seems to me that most threads like this end up that way no matter what the intentions the original poster had.

I don't know some threads end being penis in ear.
Other threads end up claw in tit.

It's just the way it is....

"You really didn't expect this thread to become anything other than a penis-in-the-ear thread, did you?"

Actually, I did.

I'm not sure if that makes me naive or foolish.

For the record, a list of the Barbelith in-crowd is posted every week on Barbelith Social, the board's semi-private section for long term members. You can sign up there for the email digest of recent theory bitchery and so on.

Apple-picker, my darlin', you're in a world of trouble if you're drawn to both myself and the Haus of Ill Repute...which is not to say I didn't blush a charming cerise when I read that post.

If you love the style of some wallflower instead of the football captain, why don't you promote him?

Because that would require some constructive effort, and is therefore less fun that kvetching about cliques?

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm late for metalwork, and it's my go with the plasma-torch.

Oh all right. It's been a while since I've sung Mordant's praises.

I adore everyword who makes me feel dull and optimistic and tactless in comparison. But Mordant acomplished that first, and possibly best.
Hands down.

Do they make a version of the female condom for the ear?

I wouldnt classify this as "you write hot", but rather more like "yay you":

zocher. he has managed to convey (to me, at least) this warm comforting image of an older relative, and uncle maybe. not so much older that hes a parental, authority figure, but old enough to have gathered a fair amount of wisdom and more than the usual share of kindness. just off of the little that Ive read, I get a very trustworthy, open, and caring vibe from him.

not hot, just really really nice

Hokay, since most people I would have mentioned have already been put forward, here's some random individuals that have not so far been namechecked:

kobol strom: not much in evidence these days, but much missed. I always liked his riffy, free-form style.

Various flavas of monkeys: if English ain't your first language, then you're prolly some big ol' 7-dimensional entity.

ciarcannon: fuckin' ROCK!

Vadrice: unspun hedgerow. Or summat.

mikebro: say what you mean, and say it mean. Quality stuff, Mr NZ.
