Fan-fucking-tastic! The mighty French team laid low by an inspired performance from Senegal in what I think may be their first World Cup. France should be able to beat Denmark and Uruguay to qualify - but then they should also have been able to beat Senegal.

Is the French defence falling apart? What the Hell was Christophe Dugarry doing on the pitch? If France qualify 2nd in the group will that be good for England?

All I know is that I am all smily and excited.

...Diouf played them off the pitch...amazing display, just so damn fast, so damn good...complete with cheesy rehearsed goal celebration...brilliant game...Gazza at half time, worst performance he has ever given...

Didn't catch the game at lunchtime, but what a great start to the tournament. I like the French team (they are pure class almost everywhere on the pitch) but it's good to see things get unsettled.

If France look like they are going to come second in their group it's going to make ours (England's) even more interesting.

Assuming Argentina and England are the top two (big assumption?) then are we going to see any 'pulling off the pace' to try and nab second place to avoid the French in the next stage?

I'd just like to say "Well done" to the Senegal goalie. He never looked flustered once, just kept everything France threw at him out - including the frenetic final minutes when a lesser man might have lost his concentration and fucked it all.

If only some of those great Senegal chances were followed through. France being taken 2 or more nil might have fucked them for the whole tournament.

Oh and Lebouef is shite. Absolutely terrible. And England are doing really well in the cricket, so today is a good day.

Excellent - the plucky Senegalians have pulled one out of the bag. I suppose it must be quite galling (groan) for such an upset to have occurred
